F2005 Seekers - Game 2: 5-0 W & Hell Week

gonna change my style for this week. but also, i don't think i'm gonna bold names and places and all that stuff anymore. too time consuming. i never knew why i did it in the first place.

and you know what? too much has happened this week, i'm just gonna put it all down in point form. i'm lazy. and i can afford to be lazy. and i want to be lazy.

Friday
  • went home to Mississauga with Betty, Celine, and Kar-Wai (Kevin) from Waterloo.
  • dropped off at Square One, where mom picked me up
  • watched the Bosox/Chisox AL playoffs matchup..learned later that the Bosox got swept
  • Alice/Betty's place, dropped by Dominion to pick up macaroni and potato salad for the JOY Thanksgiving Dinner at their place; good night of fellowship, just talking about various things, watched some TV, sang some worship songs, told what we're thankful for..etc..it was cool
  • Jeff Wong's place to play some Xbox - X-Men Legends II and Tiger Woods
  • home at around 3am-ish, and talked until about 4.30am-ish..yes, some ppl were still awake at that time..although, my internet is always sketchy for some reason..likes to cut on and off. so annoying..

Saturday
  • was gonna go see Serenity with Vince, but opted out for studying. that's something new, but i needed to get some reading done. midterm season is just around the corner and it's not pretty.
  • tried to study and stuff, and soon enough, it was time for Thanksgiving dinner at home
  • watched some Hockey Night in Canada - Leafs/Habs, Canucks/Oilers
  • watched SNL, Jon Heder of Napoleon Dynamite fame hosted

Sunday
  • woke up for church
  • out to lunch at Wendy's with some of the guys
  • went home and watched some NFL football while trying to study
  • continued to watch a lot of football while studying and talking on MSN..hahahaha

Monday
  • back to Waterloo
  • began studying hardcore..at least i tried to study hardcore, but i still got some studying done
  • what a boring Monday

Tuesday
  • went to classes, passed out in all of them for brief periods
  • took my Psychology of Adolescence test
  • went home early
  • started research on my Sociology of Education fact sheet due for Thursday

Wednesday
  • worked on SoE fact sheet...ALL DAY!
  • started studying for Introduction to Human Sexuality test for tomorrow

Thursday
  • skipped all my classes and had Lorna hand in my fact sheet for me for SoE
  • studied for ItHS and then took the test
  • went to Alpha, talked mainly about the Resurrection of Jesus
  • Seekers hockey game, pretty boring since the other team wasn't that great, but they had team hats and stuff; we won 5-0; scored a goal and added 2 assists; season totals: 3 goals, 2 assists :P
  • watched Crash again, but was Betty's first time
  • bloggin'

tada, just like that. that was my week. it was fun. oh, and i thought i'd mention, that from Tuesday to Thursday, i didn't have a full meal in any of the days. yeah, i know, not healthy, but i really had no time to make myself anything to eat. i just had pizza pops to fulfill my hunger temporarily. but don't worry, i had a full good "meal" tonight after the hockey game. i had like 7 hotdog stuffed croissants. yums.

so yeah, tonight, i also went to Alpha. i talked about it the last time i posted, we go eat dinner (potluck-type thing) and socialize a bit about whatever (today it was like about magic for the most part, like David Blaine and David Copperfield). after dinner, we do 2 worship songs, and then watch the video of Nicky Gumbel. today's topic was "Jesus Who?" pretty much talking about his teachings, how he came to be and proof that He IS THE ONE! so yeah, then afterwards it was dessert and then we had a discussion about the videos and if anyone had any questions regarding the video or anything in general. the hot topic was the resurrection. i was particularly interested in this 'cuz there were some things that intrigued me.

i asked about what happened to Jesus after the resurrection? like ok, he died on the cross 'cuz he got crucified. and then he got put in a tomb with a 1 ton rock in front of it. and then he rose again from the dead. so, since he died, and came back to life, did he die again? like, where is his physical body? why can't we see him?

apparently he ascended to Heaven in his physical form and became immortal (from my understanding anyway, please correct me if i'm wrong!) so yeah, the kind of analogy i see is like, ok Jesus was teaching, and then said his goodbyes to his disciples and the ppl he was teaching, and then he got beamed up (like Star Trek) up to Heaven. so yeah, that's why we don't see him and stuff, that's why he's immortal. there's actually a passage about it in the Bible, but i forgot to write down the verse.

and then, i asked, ok, well he rose again right? how did he get out of the tomb if there was a rock in front of it? well, simply answered:
"There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it." Matthew 28:2
so yeah, after Alpha was over, i still had one more question. now, if Jesus was able to get beamed up to Heaven, why can't any of us get beamed up either? if we are believers, shouldn't we be able to go up the way Jesus did? why do we have to die in order for us to go to heaven? is it because we sin? like i know that our body is just a vessel for our souls, but they're not perfect souls, they are souls who have evil in it, and that is why we sin. so is that a reason why we have to die first to go to heaven?

we all know that God has a plan for us personally, as well as universally, and i guess the reason why we are still on earth is to fight a war against evil, against Satan. we are essentially God's army against Satan, as well, we are also ambassadors of God, to spread the word and live life here to try and restore God's kingdom here on, i guess what once was, the perfect earth.

intriguing i must say. tonight i think really opened my eyes and really got me thinking. i think it has renewed my interest in finding more about God and actually READ the bible. ppl have told me to start from the book of John. but i'm gonna take a new approach and actually start with Genesis, the beginning of the Bible. hopefully this will take me down the path that i'm looking for.

tonight, i leave off with some quotes i have encountered in the past week that i thought were interesting. have an awesome weekend everyone!

"Youth is a wonderful thing. Too bad it is wasted on the young."
~ George Bernard Shaw

"Save Gas! Fart in a Jar!"
~ Weekend Update, SNL

"Frodo: I wish the ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.

Gandalf: So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. There are other forces at work, Frodo, than the will of evil. Bilbo was meant to find the ring. In which case you also were meant to have it, and that is an encouraging thought."
~ Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring

i think you bolded your posts because it helps the reader scan/skim through to the important points, though i think your bullet points work equally well!

i'm glad you're getting something out of alpha. i took it last year and thought it built some great foundations. in a book i'm reading, velvet elvis, the author tells us that questions are good, but it doesn't mean that we can't have faith because God will always be bigger than us.
