Basketball Diaries
man, i still want those sith eyes! it just looks so cool! haha, at work, i was working on one of my co-worker's computer (the one that went on a 2wk vacation), i have a picture of Anakin Skywalker in his sith eyes. it looks really cool 'cuz he has that black hood on too, and it's covering one eye already, and all you see is half his face with the sith eyes. anyway, i needed help on my computer on Friday, and i asked my dad to come over to look. he saw the monitor, and he just exclaimes, "Holy smokes! That picture is so scary!" hahaha..i wonder what reaction my co-worker will have when she comes back on Monday! hahaha..hopefully she'll take it as a joke! :P
on Wednesday, Paul organized a impromptu roller hockey session. Lawrence, Jeff, Mike Yung came out. they were among the few i asked if they wanted to play hockey. Joyce later came and just mingled with us on her rollerblades. since we played at Rick Hansen Secondary School, Joyce and Paul literally live across the street from it. anyway, it was pretty good to get out and play some hockey. i haven't played in a while, and i haven't been able to make Steve's Tuesday (but now Monday) roller hockey sessions. however, i didn't like the parking lot at Rick Hansen 'cuz it was too slopey.
after hockey, we just chilled infront of Joyce and Paul's house and just talked about stuff. whatever came up, we talked about. i don't remember some things we talked about, but i do remember talking about jobs, travelling, Jeff's crapbox (Volvo stationwagon), and movies that are out. it was good times.
on Thursday, Jeff Chan started to organize an impromtu softball gathering just 15mins before i had to leave work (4.30pm). so i asked a bunch of ppl on my list that i could reach. a few could. not many ppl came out either. the group consisted of Mindy, Vicki, Kevin Chui, Kevin Leung, Vince, Jeff Chan, and myself. Mindy was able to come drive me to and from.
we planned to play at the Heritage Hills diamond (the regular season diamond for MCBCSL), but it was being used by a company softball team. so we had to change diamonds. so we headed over to Huron Heights to play. they have nice diamonds there, and it's a double side-by-side diamonds. it was pretty cool. so we played until we couldn't see anything anymore. Kev C almost nailed me twice trying to switch hits, but i was able to react fast enough to catch the hits. kinda felt bad later in the evening when i got home 'cuz i found out that Mike Yung, Silas, and Joel actually showed up at the regular diamond, but no one was there 'cuz we changed the diamond. sorry guys!
after softball, we headed over to Bubble Republic 'cuz some of us were either hungry or thirsty. so we were able to chat and catch up i guess. talked about past softball experiences and highlights. haha it was a good time. everytime we go to Bubble Republic now, we keep count of how many ppl Mindy knows while we're there. the count for that night was 3. i think that's avg.
anyway, i was glad to get out of the house on Thursday 'cuz my sis and i got into an big argument that involved slamming of the screen door going out into the backyard. it was really rather stupid, but it seems that she always comes home from work in a bad mood. but anyway, i was on the phone with Jeff when she stormed into my room and just stood there tapping her foot and hand on waist while she waited for me to get off the phone. when i got off the phone, she just gave me the most negative attitude and ordered me to warm up the bbq so we could cook steaks. you don't understand how extremely bossy it sounded. it was as if i did something terribly wrong. like, i swear she needs to learn how to talk to ppl. but anyway, i didn't care, i don't have to take that shit from her. so yeah, that's that.
so the steak that we cooked that night was fantastic. it was so soft and juicy. it was excellent. i think that's the best steak i've ever had at home. it was so good. i was so full after that i didn't eat my baked potato.
moving along to Friday. Friday was BCBC Coffeehouse. but before that, a bunch of us had dinner at the Heartland district. us consisted of Odie, Joyce, Joel, Silas, Vince, Dan, and Dan's friend (didn't really catch his name). we went to A&W to eat. it was good! near the end, i wanted to chug Coke with Silas and Joel. but then Silas backed out and Joel just started to laugh, while i was drinking. so i started to laugh too, and just spewed pop everywhere! lol! i dunno if i got any on Silas, but if i did, i'm sorry man! lol..but it was funny. after that, Joel and I couldn't stop laughing after a while. but we eventually were able to chug the rest of it down so we could leave for Brampton.
the Coffeehouse itself was interesting. the theme was "In the Spotlight" or something like that. i noticed that a lot of highschoolers were there and i thought that they were so rude 'cuz they were talking the WHOLE night. the only time the didn't talk was when the pastor was delivering his message. i didn't know what the message was about 'cuz i wasn't there for the whole thing (i guess that was rude of ME!). but Odie, don't worry about it. the event was just something a little different from what we're used to.
but anyway, the worship and praise portion of the night was a little odd for me. the fellowship didn't do a whole lot of "Christian-based" songs, but rather pop culture songs. they opened the night with 3 songs from Linkin Park. those are not Christian songs. like, i don't fully understand the selection of songs they used that night. the Linkin Park songs were done ok. their worst performance was their first song, Faint. however, the violinist was really cool 'cuz the riff he played to start Faint off sounded almost identical to what Linkin Park does for it.
for me, i was a little bored, but i lipsynced along with some of the Linkin Park songs. and while i was doing that, i was colouring my table 'cuz we were given crayons. anyway, when i started i had a goal. my goal was to use up a while stick of crayon. so i proceeded to do that and finished it before the break was over, which was about half way.
we left for a bit at the break and missed the beginning of the 2nd half 'cuz we were contemplating about abandoning the Coffeehouse 'cuz some of us weren't really interested. but, in the end, we decided to stay and we saw Viv, Janette, and Andrea do some dance routine that they did when they were younger. lol..when that was mentioned before, Lawrence was like "oh crap!" hahahaha it was hilarious.
so the Coffeehouse ended at around 10pm-ish. mingled for a short while and then left for Yvonne's place for the picture party of the SciBus girls going to Cuba for their grad trip. when i got there, they were just 2/3 through Joyce's pictures (whom i met for the first time that night). then we looked through the rest of the pictures from everyone else. Vivian, Ada, Jigna, Joanna, and Arnold were also there, and all showed pictures. i think only Yvo and i didn't show any pictures. Arnold showed pictures of his missions trip to Haiti. some of the pictures were graphic 'cuz they were pictures of surgeries. it was a little gross. but there were some scenic pictures. he was also narrating what was going on in the picture for us. we left Yvo's house at around 1.40am-ish that morning.
Saturday there was the bball tournie at MCBC. got up at 8.30, but really at 8am 'cuz i kept waking up at 10min intervals. blah! anyway, got up, washed up, and showered. then i dropped my bro off at Dominion 'cuz he was meeting up with his friends for the weekend, and bought some snacks for the tournie.
i got to MCBC at about 9.30am, and found out that our team would get split up 'cuz of some conflicts. my original team consisted of Gilbert, Ray Li, Matt Barker, and myself. so, Ray and Matt got shipped to a different team with Ray's friend (who was originally there to watch the tournie and wasn't planning on playing) and i think Ambrose? i'm not too sure. as a replacement, we got Jeff Tram.
tournie started and we played Gerald's team and were able to beat them 11-3. this would be the only score i remember. i came out of that game with a slight charliehorse! :S
then Rebecca came and was suppose to be on Ben Mar's team, but i think they already got a replacement girl on their team, so Silas put her on my team, so now it was Gilbert, Jeff, Rebecca, and i for the 2nd game. then Rebecca's friend, Aaron, came in time for the 3rd game and he also got placed on our team. he's a really good player and tall, so that really helped with our rebounding and centering issue!
so we played our second game against Jeff Pak's team, and won convincingly 11-2 or something. i'm not sure. i don't remember. in our third game, it was against Ray Li's team (the new team). we were able to fend them off and win by 1. :S it was a pretty physical game and i was knocked around a lot 'cuz i'm so skinny and light. i tried to set a pick, but was the one that went flying! Aaron really helped us out in the middle 'cuz Matt is a pretty strong post player.
the last game of the round robin had us against Jon Tang's team. in this game, i started to cramp up in the calf area on both legs! :s i always cramp up when i play sports for a long time! i forgot what the score or how much we won by, but we beat 'em too to finish with a 4-0 record. good enough to rank us 1st in the tournie going into the playoffs.
before the playoffs started, we had a short 45min lunch break. we just headed over to Wendy's and got take out and ate at the church. i felt pretty heavy.
the 1st game of the playoffs had us against Gerald's team again. they played much better this time around, but still unfortunately and fortunately for us, we won the game. now we're into the semi-finals.
we later find out that Gilbert had to leave to teach guitar lessons to a student, so we were like nooooo! he said he'd try to make it back later in the day. Silas decided to start the other semi-final game instead of ours to give Gilbert more time to get back to MCBC. however, just prior to our semi-final game, Gilbert calls, i think, Victor's cell and tells us that he can't come back to play. i was like "oh nooo!!"
so we had to play the semis without him. much to my surprise, we played very well that game. i was able to come up with a couple blocks and steals, and i felt that i shot well too. but, Aaron was on fire. putting up range baskets for us. it kept on swooshing in. haha it was cool! that game i also got hurt. well i cramped up pretty bad, so i subbed with Jeff so i could stretch out my calf muscle. haha, but then like 3mins later, Rebecca wanted to sub! lol..but for some reason, my cramp didn't really occur again aftewards. it baffled me. but anyway, yeah, i also hurt my left pinky toe and i don't know how. i hurts to walk a little, it's just the nail portion that's really tender at the moment.
so tomorrow, (Sunday) we'll be playing in the finals against Ray Li's team, who beat the 2nd seeded team, after the 3pt competition after church. hopefully Gilbert'll be able to play in the championship game, but we'll be losing Aaron since he has to go back up to Waterloo. booo.. so i think we'll have some problems in the post area.
fast forward to today. i wrote all the previous stuff last night, while passing out infront of the computer. i couldn't post it yesterday 'cuz upon arriving home, my sister informed me that i'd be bored last night 'cuz the ppl who were installing the new sprinkler system on our yard accidentally cut the cable. so yeah, no internet, no television last night.
also last night, i originally planned on getting some work done for my DE course. but before i'd start it, i wanted to take a nap for a couple hours. so i went to nap at around 7.30-8pm. when i woke up it was like almost 2am! :S so i was like..gah..screw it, and just went back to bed for the rest of the night. haha i almost got 12hrs of sleep last night.
so today was the finals for the bball tournie at MCBC. man, i was sore today, thigh, calves, back, and a little neck. we started off the 3pt competition at 1pm. i think i only managed 4-5pts in the competition. it was won by Jon Tenn-Yuk over Wilson, and Hoy.
then afterwards was the championship game. it was Ray Li's team against my team. both of us only had 3 players. Ray's team was missing i think it was Ambrose, and we were missing Aaron (our big center) and Rebecca (cheerleader today :P). so the predictions i made yesterday kinda came true. Ray's team won, which to me wasn't much of a surprise 'cuz we didn't really have anything to counter Matt with. he pretty much was able to outrebound any of us. anyway, for me personally, i wasn't really shooting the ball well, and i probably took a couple bad shots too. however, there was a personal highlight and that was when i blocked Ray on a shot. i just let out a loud scream 'cuz it just felt so good. haha...it's almost like when Alonzo Mourning yells when he blocks. :P hahaha.
anyway, that was my weekend. i am so beat. definately no hockey tomorrow night for me. but there's arena roller hockey on Tuesday which i'll go to. can't pass up that opportunity. hopefully i'll be healed up enough to play a bit hard.
i should also be finding out which team i'm on in the next 2 weeks since the MCBCSL softball season is starting up soon.
anyway, that will be all.
on Wednesday, Paul organized a impromptu roller hockey session. Lawrence, Jeff, Mike Yung came out. they were among the few i asked if they wanted to play hockey.
