W2006 Da Been Lo - Game 3: 5-2 W
here comes yet another recap! or..rather a selfish recap. mwahaha!
so we finally had a game. after a 3 week layoff (practices don't count), we were back on the ice playing something "meaningful."
so today's game, we had pretty much the whole team out. i think. i'm not even sure 'cuz i don't know everyone's name on our team. :S that's bad. i should learn my teammates' names. i didn't even know one of the guys i played on a line with last night. haha.. blah.
so yeah, we had 3 forward lines, & i think 3 defensive pairings. i'm sure we had 3 defensive pairings. i was on the first line with...dude i don't know (will refer to him as dude for the rest of the post) centering, Justin & i on the wings. then the really tall guy centered my former linemates for the 2nd line, & JLo centered a line with ppl i don't know. hahahaha..so bad. i don't know the names of most of JLo's friends. i just know pretty much most of the defensive players, which is like Mike, Chris, Eric, Anthony, Marty, & a white dude. ok i don't know all the white guys on our team. that's pretty sad man.
anyway, on to the game. we got off to a quick start. dude, i think, drew a penalty early on. the call, i have no idea what it was. but on the ensuing faceoff, dude won the faceoff & it went straight to Justin who just one-timed it with all his might for a goal. just like that. i don't even think the powerplay lasted 2 seconds. literally.
i missed the 2nd goal & i think the other team scored too, so it was like 2-1 or something. i don't know, the middle of the game wasn't really fresh to me. or maybe i just have a really bad memory.
fast forward to the last period. the game was tied 2-2 i think entering it. i was like, this is OUR PERIOD GUYS! YAAAAAAH! so yeah..who knows if anyone took that to heart or whatever. we came out strong, or rather, finished the game strong by potting 3 goals.
what turned out to be the game winner was something of a fluke. the shot from the point just ricochetted off a million ppl, & Shaun fell infront of the goalie. so the puck just glanced off his knees & into the net! hahaha, it was kinda funny!
the second goal was off a rebound by JLo's line i believe. that was good.
the third goal, i gotta describe 'cuz well..i scored it man! :P heheheheheheeh!! so here's what went down! we were in our zone, defensive zone playing defense. hahaha..ok, so the puck came out to like the center sliding towards the blue line. i was just kinda skating towards the puck, but not really that aggressively 'cuz i was on my wing (right) & it was more near Justin's wing. so yeah, dude, our center, kinda started the play by poking it ahead i think. i kinda hesitated in coralling the puck, but i saw no one go after it, so i just skated hard & picked it up, beat the defense to the red line & pretty much had a breakaway from the red line on, uncontested. started skating a little to the right, & the goalie just left the whole left side open (so stick side of a righthanded goalie). i just wristed it in on the left. W00T!!! i was covered on the rebounded too 'cuz both dude & Justin were right there behind me! :D sooo goood!
haha after the play, some of the guys were commenting on how fast i was. haha, it's always nice to hear compliments about your skills. apparently i just took off really quickly without them having time to react really. *shrugs* that's cool man! Luis MENDOZA! just like him. i can skate fast, but i can't stop! :P hahahahaa.
soo goooood! i'm a much better winger than a center, in my opinion. i think some ppl would agree with that. :D JLo said he put me as a winger 'cuz i have the speed to get a lot of breakaways. what a smart smart man. but yeah, i like my new line too, we're very well balanced. dude is very well-rounded center, has a good all-around game. Justin is like our power forward, dubbed himself Jason Arnott! haha, & i'm like..Paul Kariya. small & fragile, but can make some of the plays. i got pushed around so much when i was infront of the net. i'm too small! anyway, we had so many scoring chances! it was so good! & we drew a lot of penalties! haha i drew one..again! hahaha..i think i'm 3 for 3 in games for drawing a penalty! i drew mine on a partial breakaway, & still got a shot off, albeit it was wide!
it was a fun game, probably 'cuz we won in the end. but meh, winning is always fun.
last night's game: 1g +1 rating.
season stats: 2g, 1a & i'm not entirely sure of my real +/- rating, but i guess for now it stands at +1.
team stats: 2-1; 11 goals for, 9 goals against
next game: February 26 @ 4pm
