Toronto Rock ROCKS!
last night, Brenda & i went to see a Toronto Rock game. i think it was her 2nd time going, whereas it was my first time. haha this is like the closest i've gotten to a hockey rink in terms of watching games live at the ACC. i've never been to a hockey game before. :s
anyway, traffic was brutal when i was going to pick up Brenda. it was just pure volume for some weird reason. there was no accident this time. but i noticed that ppl are pretty bad drivers after you pass the Yonge St. exit. ppl just start to drive a little more recklessly. kinda annoying & inconvenient. but i made it to her place only 10-15mins late, so it's wasn't too bad.
as we were subwaying it to Union, i noticed that noise was getting a lot softer. craaaaaap! i originally thought that it was my hearing aid just softening the sound around me 'cuz the subway is pretty loud right? but nope, it was 'cuz my battery was dying! it was beeping all night. gah! so yeah, when we got to Union we started to look around for a place that sold button cell batteries, but everything was freaking closed already. does everything close downtown early on Fridays or what? it's just weird...& annoying, boooo. so yeah, our search for batteries was unsuccessful.
anyway, we missed the 1st quarter of the Rock game entirely & made it in maybe midway through the 2nd quarter. which is ok i guess, we bought tickets off some scalper for $30 a piece, which is pretty good for lower bowl 100 level seats. we saved $4 bucks off the original price. the seats were pretty good, we were only 25 rows up from the rink & near the center of the arena.
the game itself was pretty entertaining. going into the game we were like..the Rock are winless this season so far..hahaha, but they played well & finally got their 1st win of the season (i guess it helps that the other team, the Edmonton Rush, is winless too! :P), some of the goals were beauties. the action is hard & fast. the atmopshere was pretty noisy, hardcore lacrosse fans. everyone's screaming & blowing horns & stuff. haha.. i want a lacrosse ball! :P it was a good experience, i wouldn't mind watching another game for sure!
so yeah, i think midway through the game, i took my hearing aid out to save the batteries. luckily my hearing on my right side is still pretty ok without it on. it's not the best, but i just have to be really close, or ppl have to talk a bit louder to me. i only put it back in when i needed to. :P
after the game, we took the sub back to Finch, 'cuz that's where we parked. we decided to go for bubble tea afterwards somewhere. i think we went to Markham. hahaha..everything is the same to me down there anyway. :P anyway, as we were driving, i needed Bren to direct me where to go! haha, since i couldn't hear very well, i needed her to yell & give me hand signals. haha it was kinda funny. "TURN LEFT *waves left* AT THE LIGHTS *makes an 'L' with her fingers*." hahaha..jokes. :P
we tried this placed called Go For Tea (i think?) but that place was packed. while looking for a parking spot, i couldn't help but noticed so many highclass cars like Mercedes, BMWs, Lexus..man, high rollers. i wish i was driving one of those cars. we decided to leave & try for another place just down the street. we settled for TeaShop 168 or whatever. it was a good chat, maybe a little bit hard on the ears since the hearing aid was low batteries. haha..i felt so bad though 'cuz Brenda had to repeat almost everything she said until i heard it properly.
thanks for your patience Bren! :) i'm sorry that you had to repeat almost everything for me. next time, i'll remember to bring backup batteries! hahhaa..but in any case, thanks for a fun night! GO ROCK! :D
Saturday..man it was such nice weather out today. it was spring-like. i wish i could've done something outside! but i have no bike, or rollerblades here. i had a car, but i took it to the supermarket to buy food & supplies for the apartment. but y'know, i want to throw a softball..i want to chuck something.
i watched Face/Off last night...from like 3.30-6am. HAHAHHAA..i'm a fool.
