About a Weekend

Friday, January 20, 2006

Rachel was awesome to come all the way from London to give me a lift home on Friday. muchos appreciated! :D it was nice to see her after a long long while. she hasn't changed. apparently i got shorter? lol...

she left London at around 12.15pm & didn't get to my place until about 2.45pm. hhahaa she was lost for a while & stopped to ask for directions, it was kinda funny, but poor Rach. :P in any case, she made it to my place unscathed! :P we left WCRI at 3pm & stopped off at the nearby Taco Bell before we got on the highway so she could buy lunch. all that driving must've got her really hungry! ;P

so we switched spots & i drove back to Mississauga while she ate her lunch. we had a nice conversation about various subjects. it was good to catch up with her. i dropped myself at Square One where my mom picked me up. we made it into Mississauga in about 30-40mins, so traffic wasn't so bad for us, so that's good.

Friday was also a special day in our family. it was my parent's 30th wedding anniversary. anyway, us kids took them to CN Tower's 360 Restaurant in Toronto. yeah, very poshy! :P

it was suppose to be a secret from our parents & we all did a pretty good job in keeping it a secret; however, the thing was, my sister never told my brother or i that it was a secret from our parents, so just before we left, my brother was like "Wow, I've never been to the CN Tower before" when he was talking to dad..haha. my dad was like, "We're going to the CN Tower?" haha, my sister that planned the whole thing was soooo pissed, but my mom didn't hear it since she was still getting ready upstairs.

so after it was established that it was suppose to be a secret, i still managed to blurt out the word "CN Tower" in the car..i took out my camera & i said "We should take pictures on our way to the CN Tower!" my brother just bursted out laughing, & it didn't really occur to me why he was laughing, & then my oldest sister kinda gave me this dirty look. only then did i realize what i did wrong, so i started to laugh too! hahaha..my mom was so confused 'cuz she didn't hear what i said! hahaha..

so while we were on the highway, my sister that planned it finally broke her silence & told my mom where we were taking them. my mom was pretty excited, as was my dad.

we parked at the Metro Convention Centre, since it's the closest parking lot. it's freaking $14 flat rate! so expensive for parking man! but anyway, so we get there, there as in CN Tower. it's pretty nice & all, like it's suppose to be! haha..it was pretty dim inside & the floor rotates (i'm sure everyone knows that!), that's cool! i was a little disoriented at first 'cuz i wasn't used to it, but the floor wasn't rotating that fast anyway, but you still kinda have to adjust to the fact that you're moving! lol.

i ordered the steak of course, it was AAA sirloin! :P with fries & onion rings on the side. man the steak was SOOOOOO GOOD! so juicy, so good. so yums! i know you're drooling man! :P

over dinner we heard the story of how my mom & dad got together, hahaha..it was nice & sweet. :) but my mom did all the talking. my dad seems to be shy when talking about this.

after dinner, we went & explored the CN Tower a bit. we saw the glass floor & all. it was pretty cool. my oldest sister & my mom were kinda afraid to stand on it. haha..my brother started jumping on the glass hahaha..luckily there wasn't security. :P

however, the fun was kinda short-lived since it seemed as if my dad wanted to leave, always in a rush. sometimes my family can be very dysfunctional that way, most of us have a short-fuse..sometimes i wonder why my dad is always in a rush to get somewhere & not just sit back & relax & enjoy the moments we have as a family outside of the house since it's pretty rare that we go out in a special setting or vacation to a landmark.

i completely passed out on the car ride home, major itis man.. that steak was goooooood! ;P

Saturday was National Hugs Day! i was in a pretty crummy mood when i woke up Saturday because ppl were yellin' at me to wake up, eat lunch & clean..so i wasn't in a good mood. after i ate lunch, i vacuumed upstairs, & when i was cleaning my room, i heard a really loud beep from my cell phone, so that meant that i either missed a call or i got a txt msg. it happened to be the latter, & it was such a pleasant surprise what was said
:) it really put a smile on my face 'cuz it was so unexpected & out of the blue! thanks! you know who you are! :) it made my day!

Saturday night was Jeff's birthday banquet & it was held where he works. i saw a lot of familiar faces, & a lot of new ones. the night was pretty fun. i sat at a table with my brother, Hilda, Felix, Kevin, & Nelson.

first we ate & then we took up a quiz that Jeff prepared, our table lost out on the prize by half a mark. if my table answered one question i guess that was correct, we would've one the prize! :( booo, oh well haha.

then Gen, Letty, & Joyce had some icebreaker games. the first game was a game of limbo, no one would get up to participate, so i got up & got under the first level for the guys side, then more ppl started to come & play, so that was encouraging. i ended up getting knocked out on the last level with 4 others.

the 2nd game was one person from each table would go up & do an impression of Jeff, again i went up for our table & did a little impression of Jeff & how he was talking earlier in the evening, & then i did the hot pot "manly" pose. it was a you-had-to-be-there
moment to understand it..

the last game was Jeff trying to guess who's bicep it was, so there was one guy from each table that went up & had to flex their biceps & Jeff had to guess who's it belonged to (of course each participant said their name prior, so Jeff knew who there was to guess from).

after the games was speeches from both Jeff and his best friend Kelvin. then there was the giant birthday cake!

then it was the dance floor & Jeff got us started off, i decided not to dance because i didn't want to, & the music didn't get me in the mood to either. so i just kinda lounged around, talked & caught up with some ppl i have't seen in a while too. also went to the lounge to check out the hockey game that was being shown. man, what a horrible night for the Leafs & Habs. lol!

later, Karaoke Revolution was brought out in the lounge area, & some ppl played that. i switched back & forth & continued to talked to ppl, so it was still rather a good night despite the fact that i didn't participate in dancing & singing. :P

props go out to Jeff for organizing this banquet, & i think that everything went rather smoothly for a first-time planner. :) good job Jeff! Happy early Birthday too (i think i forgot to write Happy Birthday in your birthday book! hahha).

Myself, Jeff, my brother Jay..i look dumb.

woke up for church as usual, & as usual (if i don't have to jet home after service), some of us went to the nearby Wendy's/Tim Hortons just to lounge around waiting for Sunday School to finish so that more ppl can join us.

we couldn't decided on a place to eat, so we finally came up with a system. each person would pick a place to eat & put it in a cup. we spun a cell phone to see who had the veto power. they could veto twice, & everyone who's in HAS to go to this place. 'cuz it'd be retarded if you didn't go 'cuz it defeats the whole purpose of the idea. plus limiting the veto power was a good idea so that the person vetoing doesn't veto until their place gets picked.

haha so today was the first day this took place. i dunno if it's gonna stick, but it's a pretty good idea. it'll take away a lot of the loitering time trying to decide & agree on a place to go. anyway, today, Silas had the veto power, & he vetoed Dixie Park & Square One. Macy's Restaurant was the next place chosen, so we went there to eat lunch. haha..

those guys have so many stories to tell, i just normally sit there & listen to all their stories that they have to tell, & most of them are just hilarious. i have no hilarious stories to tell. i'm boring. that sucks. damn. oh well.

the rest of the day was a blur..in a nutshell, it was fold laundry, pack up, watch football, dinner, bus back to Waterloo, blog, MSN. ta da!

i'd better get crackin' on the Emotionally Disturbed Child content. i've got a term test on Tuesday night & i haven't started studying. i'll start..TOMORROW! :D
