Full of Sports
it's been a pretty long day.
last night i didn't go to bed until about 3.30-4am 'cuz i went over to Westcourt for a movie viewing after CCF. we watched Batman Begins.
now, CCF was pretty interesting. we played two games. one game was necessary for the other game as it split us off into two teams. so the 1st game was kinda like Rock, Paper, Scissors but instead we called it Man, Woman, Ape. i kinda forgot what beats what, but i guess that's not important. but yeah, in the end there were 2 ppl left & it didn't matter who won 'cuz they were the important ppl we needed for the 2nd game.
the 2nd game was called the Underground Chinese Church. lol, we used the whole MC building to play this game. levels 1-6. the CCF committee were the Red Army, so basically, they're just trying to catch us breaking the rules. the 2 winners from the 1st game were the pastors we needed to find. one for each team. the objective is to 1st find the pastor in a room in MC, & then have the WHOLE team in that one room. but in order for the game to end, both teams must have their full roster in the room. as for the rules, each team had each person grouped off into 3s or 4s. in the first 10mins, arms has to be linked. 15mins after that, ALL arms have to be linked (so it forms a circle). 10mins after that, ALL arms have to be linked with a bible in the center of the circle. if the Red Army sees us breaking the rules, we go to jail. the only person that can free us from jail is the Pastor. i forget what happens if the Pastor ends up in jail. haha..maybe the human chain from the elevator rule? i dunno.
but anyway, we were able to finish the game before time expired, so yeah, that was good. the whole purpose of the game was the message or theme of CCF for this term. last term it focussed on Christ in You. this term it's Christ in Us. so CCF hopes that we will grow as a family, as a unit this term.
so, today, i woke up at 8am (after i went to bed at 3.30-4am) for basketball at 9am at the PAC with some CCFers. played that for maybe a good 1.5hrs. it was pretty good.
after that i walked over to the CIF for some free skating. saw Jon Lo there. i was expecting to see more CCF ppl there, but nope, just Jon was there. i also met one of my new teammates for this term's hockey team. his name was Shawn. he said that he was pretty new to the sport, but from the way he skates, it doesn't seem that way. so that's cool! :) apparently he played for the CCF team in the summer as well. i also found out what our new team name is, now that Seekers belongs to the beginner team, Jon had to rename our team. so he came up with Dah Been Low (hot pot) haha. pretty interesting name. :P
so yeah, i stopped skating at around 12.30pm & waited a little over 1.5hrs for Joseph & Emily to arrive. Karen was suppose to be our 4th player, but she bailed 'cuz she was too tired from basketball earlier in the day, so we had to find a replacement. i mentioned last night to Eric that i was gonna play badminton & he said that he might be interested, so i suggested Joseph to call up Eric to see if he still wanted to play. he did, so we had our 4th player! so yeah, we played a couple doubles matches, mainly Eric & I versus Emily & Joseph. my team didn't lose a match. :P hehe..i even had a 2 on 1 match against Eric & Emily. :P haha it was fun. :)
after that it was almost 4pm. i was pretty beat & very hungry. so i came home, took a nice shower & made something to eat. i just finished off my bag of fries, so that was pretty yummies. watched Beverly Hills Cop while i was eating.
totally passed out from 6-9pm. i was debating whether or not just to sleep the rest of the night away & wake up for church in the morning, but meh, i decided not to. i went down to watch the Leaf game. only watched like maybe 5mins of the game until the tv decided to mess up on me. i hate that tv so much. sometimes i just want to throw the piece of junk off the balcony. >:@ i tried to fix it for a bit, but meh, i got tired of trying, so i just gave up.
been up in my room ever since. the thought of maybe opening up my textbooks & doing some of my readings crossed my mind, but..haha..yeah right. well i did do a survey for my Intimate Relations class for an extra 1%. so right now, i'm sitting at 101% in that class! wooot! i rock! :D
i forgot to mention that when i went skating, i was trying to practice stopping on my left side. yeah, it was kinda working, but i'm still not happy with how i stop. i totally wiped out on my last try (haha, i gave up after i wiped out), & it really hurts when you don't have equipment on 'cuz there's no padding to support you. i'm still feeling the affects of landing on the side of my right leg. it's a little sore & tender when i move my leg around. sucks. grr. >:
anyway, i'm bored. maybe i'll watch some Smallville before i hit the sack tonight. gotta wake up early for church tomorrow.
Emily, Professor Burris' name is Christopher. ;P
*edit - 11.32pm* ok, i just read some stories on TSN.ca. now, i don't know who the bigger idiot is Ilya Kovalchuk of the Atlanta Thrashers or Sidney Crosby of the Pittsburgh Penguins. Don Cherry, has always been critcal of Crosby, calling him a "hotshot" & all, but tonight he actually came in defense of Crosby in the Penguins game against the Thrashers.
"Crosby unravels as Thrashers beat Pens" - TSN.ca
here's the breakdown. Crosby is getting harrassed like crazy by the Thrashers, so Crosby doesn't want to just be taking it, so he retaliates. he picks up some dumb penalties. but, he doesn't help his reputation when he is called for diving & then gesturing to the referees, thus giving him another unsportsmanlike penalty.
now i used to defend Crosby, i gave him a chance. i even tried to defend him when a friend of mine & i had an argument about him. but yeah, i now see his side. he's a really good player & such, but from what i see on Sportscentre, from what i read on TSN.ca & such. he's not giving me a very good impression. i would side with Cherry on this one 'cuz it's true. Crosby does seem to think that he's invincible. no one should be able to touch him & stuff. i give him credit with his skills & the fact that he's able to take the punishment that is given to him. i give him credit for persevering & continuing to play great hockey. but all this is dampened by the way he acts on the ice & the way he disrespects the officials in the game & yapping away with his mouth.
with all this in mind, i'm starting to think that Crosby is overrated. Alexander Ovechkin of the Washington Capitals seems more the real deal to me now. but don't get me wrong, both players are extremely talented & Crosby DOES get more media attention.
"Cherry slams Kovalchuk for taunting Sid" - TSN.ca
now, Kovalchuk. this guy is cocky, maybe he rightly can be since he can score & stuff. he's a good player too, but he's dumb in the sense that he's starting crap up with Crosby. what he did in the Penguins game was uncalled for. you don't single out a player like he did. i think after Kovalchuk scored a power play goal in which Crosby was in the box, he pointed at Crosby. what for? what msg are you trying to send? like Cherry said, "Someone should've broken his (Kovalchuk's) arm, but they didn't."
unlike Cherry, i'm not starting to like Crosby more & more, even if it means he doesn't back down from anyone. but with his demeanor on the ice, it's just disrespectful. you're the future of the game, set an example. be a role model. right now, Crosby seems to be sending the msg that if you're a young superstar, you can do whatever you want & throw freaking childish temper tantrums. you think that exempts you from not getting penalties?
kids.
