The Busy Holiday: Week 2 - Currahee!!!
Currahee was war cry of the 101st Airbourne & Easy Co. during WWII. Band of Brothers is so good! i recommend to everyone!
so what have i been doing for the past week? here's the story (can get boring, & is very lengthy)
Christmas evening
us kids (Rosemary, Caralen, Keith, Jay, & i) watched 40 Year Old Virgin. it was Rose & Jay's first time watching it. i found that it wasn't as funny the 2nd time around, but still a funny movie nonetheless. i got the movie as a gift from Keith for Christmas. :) i also got this Super Tech Hero Wolverine model from Keith for my birthday! it's pretty cool! i had to put it together myself! :D
i also started to watch Band of Brothers & watched the first 3 parts. didn't sleep until 5am 'cuz of that (each episode is 1hr long).
Monday - Boxing Day
i think my sisters went out Boxing Day shopping at Yorkdale. i'm glad i didn't go 'cuz i heard it was a beast to shop there! i never liked Boxing Day anyway. just another day to fool ppl into wasting your money on things you can probably get cheaper if you waited a couple months. but anywho..i didn't wake up until 4pm & then i just bummed around anyway.
i started to watch part 4 of Band of Brothers & then finished it after dinner. later, i played some Tetrinet with Winnie & Carson. got Winnie hooked back on it again! haha..it can get addictive. also watched a bit of the Leafs/Bruins game (i think it was the Bruins), i don't even remember if they won or not. i think the Leafs did. *shrugs* could care less anyway. :P
i don't even remember what happened for the rest of the evening, but i do know that i watched part 5 & 6 of Band of Brothers before sleeping at 5am again! haha
Tuesday - Dec 27
on this day, i woke up a little earlier: 3.30pm hehehe..yeah half hour difference is A LOT! :P but i woke up 'cuz Steve called me to see if i was interested in playing some shinny up in Vaughan with some of his friends. i declined 'cuz Lawrence was over, & thought it would be a good idea to hang out with him a little bit before he left for Hong Kong for who knows how long. we played a bit of Madden 06 on his XBox, & lemme tell you, i suck at that game! :S
Jay had a few more friends over, so i went out to eat with the family sans Jay (since he was gonna eat pizza with his friends). came back home & finalized plans with Syv for Wednesday. then i went back down & played a little more XBox, this time it was NHL 06.
left them for a while to watch the Leafs/Penguins game. it was a thriller since the game went to OT & witnessed Kaberle's game winner. pretty nice goal. let the shot rip! :P
after the game, the guys downstairs started up a $1 poker game (yea, we're cheap). so there were quite a few of us. Jay, Ken, Matt, Lawrence, Marc, Peggy, Gabe, & i. so that took up the next 2hrs. i finished 2nd to Gabe, & it was winner take all.
came back up to my room & watched part 7 & 8 of Band of Brothers & in bed by 4am (earlier this time!) :P
Wednesday - Dec 28
woke up at 11am, the earliest time this week (not counting Sunday, haha!). had a quick lunch & headed out at 12.30pm to go pick up Sylvia. she was at Macey's Chinese Restaurant having lunch with her parents & uncle. we went to watch Fun with Dick & Jane over at Coliseum Square One. we both agreed that the first half of the film was slow, but it picked up in the second half & it was a lot funnier in the second half. in my opinion, i thought it would be a worthy rental movie.
after the movie, we had about an hour to kill before volleyball at MCBC, so we went to SportChek to just look around i suppose. i remembered that i might need a white jersey for the upcoming hockey tournament on New Year's Day. so i bought a white Team Canada practice jersey. we also bumped into Bryan who was working there. he helped Sylvia pick out a present for a friend & we gave him our commission. haha...
we still had about 45mins to kill, so i took my sweet time driving to MCBC. volleyball started up at 4.30pm. we were still early, but we didn't have to wait too long until Silas arrived. so we kinda tried to help set up the nets. we couldn't get it to not..droop. but in the end, we found a way with the help of Vince.
volleyball itself was pretty good, although i really thought we could've put away the competitiveness of my team. my team was playing as if it was a real game & stuff, so Syv & i were really confused about the positioning we're suppose to be in. all i know is that, if i'm in the front, i'm always in the middle to block shots. *shrugs* i dunno! i just kinda wished it was just a basic 6 man rotation set up & just play for fun. in any case, thanks to Silas for organizing the activity.
had to cut the volleyball fun for Syv & i since we had hot pot over at Andre's to attend. it was yummies! :D it was a fun time just chillin' & fellowshippin'. we also followed our tradition & ate with a few episodes of Family Guy! :P hahhaa such a hilarious show. also played a bit of NHL 06 & Burnout Revenge on the XBox & watched just a bit of Johnny English. thanks Andre for opening your home to us as always! :)
i think i watched part 9 of Band of Brothers too..
Thursday - Dec 29
woke up at like 2.30pm, & left for Play It Again Sports at around 4pm so i could sharpen my skates. so i dropped my skates off 'cuz they had a 2hr wait period, so i went over to Best Buy to see if there was anything interesting/worth buying. they did! i bought Charlie & The Chocolate Factory & Stealth 'cuz they were both on sale. score!
came home & i think i watched part 10 of Band of Brothers right before dinner.
later, like after dinner, i went to pick up my skates at around 8.15pm, & dropped my brother off at the gym at around 8.30pm. i didn't want to go all the way back home to kill an hr, so i just decided to head to Markham ahead of schedule (was gonna leave at 9.30pm) for my tournament team's practice. got to Glen Angus Arena an hr before i should've been there, which was 10.30pm. i arrived at 9.30pm. so i just took a walk around the community centre, it's pretty nice, & clean, & probably relatively new. so i just chilled & watched ppl play some basketball to pass the time. by 10.20pm, ppl started to arrive, but i didn't know any of them, so i just went to the car, grabbed my gear & headed towards the change rooms. before i made it to the change room, the tv caught my attention as they were playing the Flames/Wild game. so i just stood there for a while watching the game. met my team later in the change room, & we hit the ice at around 10.50pm
this practice, we played one of the stronger teams, well i think all the teams are stronger than us considering we are being labelled as one of the weaker teams in the tournament already. we're seeded 6th out of 6 teams. anyway, my endurance sucks. i felt like puking 10mins into the practice, & felt like i was gonna die. i guess i'm really out of shape! but as the night progressed, i started to relax a little & it got better in terms of fatigue, i wasn't as tired or winded. i had a couple scoring chances, but the other team mostly controlled the puck.
i tried to get some McDonald's on my way home, but the McDonald's near my house was closed, it was 1am, i thought they had 24hr drive-thru, i guess i was wrong. so i just went next door to the PizzaPizza instead.
watched Stealth while chatting with Syv & Lorna on MSN. i've never seen Stealth before, so i kinda took a risk when i bought it at Best Buy & luckily it wasn't a bad movie, i kinda liked it. but then i expected other things out of the movie (which i won't delve into here)
Friday - Dec 30
today, i woke up at 3pm. i wanted to go grocery shoppin' but, woke up too late. my mom wasn't even home anyway 'cuz she went shopping with my sister. so i just bummed around until dinner time (like i always do), which was up in Scarborough tonight. it was an engagement celebratory dinner with the two families where some announcements were made by my sister & her fiance. it's kinda weird calling Keith my sister's fiance now 'cuz for so long, it was my sister's boyfriend. hahaaha..but anyway...the wedding is probably gonna be in late 2006 & it'll probably take place somewhere south. it's gonna be a small wedding ceremony with just family & close friends with a big reception party back in Canada afterwards.
i was gonna hang out with Mohammed & party, but didn't really feel like going out for snacks since i just came back from dinner. missed bowling entirely..bourns! my backup plan was maybe to watch a movie with Jeff Wong & his party, but turned out to be something like a double date, & they watched The Family Stone. so, i obviously opted out of that one! didn't want to be the 5th wheel y'know? :P
so i stayed in for the night & chatted with a few ppl on MSN while watching Charlie & the Chocolate Factory. :) it was a pretty low key day, but not a bad day :)
Saturday - New Year's Eve
it's the last day of 2005! been an alright year. i wish i would be able to reflect back on the year, but really, i'm kinda looking forward to 2006 already. it's gonna be a huge year for the Chiu family. lots of changes & events coming our way.
my soon to be brother-in-law's father told my brother & i that the best time to find a girlfriend is in highschool or university. looks like my time is running out. :P

- i'm finally graduating from the University of Waterloo with an Arts degree! WOOT! btw, ppl, please let me know if you want a wallet-size grad picture! i'll be glad to send you one! :D
- my oldest sister is moving out around May.
- my brother & i will most likely be playing in the Toronto softball league this summer, CCSA, rather than MCBCSL. it'll be a nice change & a new challenge. :)
- my sister will be getting married & moving out.
- my family will finally go on its FIRST EVER vacation together as a family. yeah, we've gone on vacation as a family before, but ONE was always missing, never the full 6.
- my brother & i will be moving into my sister's rooms when they move out. my brother's room will be turned into a guest room, & my room will become my dad's office.
