The Busy Holiday: Week 1
this is just a general thought before i start blogging my events:
why is it that i feel like i talk to, & make more new friends at the END of a school term? i just find that really odd. like, where was the rest of the term to make friends & talk to them? sure beats the crap out of me!!
anyway, on to the events. :)
on Thursday, Betty, Vanessa, Sarah Joy, Chris, Elliot, & i held our UWCCF-wide exclusive Birthday Bash at Chris'. thanks Chris for opening up your house for our party! :) the party was a lot of fun. thanks to everyone who came out to celebrate with us!
there were various games going on all over the house, there was Bang!, HeadBandz(?!), Mario Tennis, "working out," Smash Brothers, DDR, Phase 10 (?), & of course, chats. i also wrestled Eric & Odie. haha..i also grabbed Odie from behind & how does she defend herself? by blindly kicking backwards with no aim. suffice to say, i got squared. :S ouchie.
on the way up, i drove Joyce, Elsie, Victoria, Betty & Connie. yes, i had a full car of girls. i'll just say it now. BINGO! i think only CCF ppl would understand this. so anyway, yeah, i picked up Joyce first 'cuz we went to No Frills to pick up desserts & drinks for the party. haha..so that was a bit rushed, & then we were on our way. the traffic wasn't THAT bad, but i was kinda..impatient, normally i'm not, but tonight i was for some reason. anyway, got to North York to get Connie, but she wasn't ready. we called her twice, & she kept saying 10 minutes. haha..we were wondering what she was doing. was she getting ready or was she baking? turns out she was preparing flowers for the birthday girls!! haha, makes sense. then we were on our way. traffic was crazy, i think Torontonians are like the worst drivers ever. but then, i can't really compare it to anything else. :P
at least the ride home was relatively quick. i think 130-140km/hr was the average speed i went. i was mostly driving with William in my sight either in front or behind me! haha..i took home Joyce, Jon Ting, & Rebecca who had just returned from Boston with a fobby DO! :P hahahaa..
so, all in all, great party, lots of fun, crappy drive up, good drive home! :D
Friday was a bit packed too, but seeing that i didn't get home until about 3am, & not sleeping until about 5am, i skipped 10am dimsum with the family & woke up at around 1.30pm.
headed to Square One at around 4pm & met up with Winnie, Emily, & Emily's sister (i forgot her name already :S). we all (minus Emily) had Christmas shopping to finish up. i had a lot to get, but they were easy to get gifts.
i bumped into Simon & Julie in front of the McDonald's in Walmart, so we chatted for a bit. later, Winnie & i bumped into Josey while leaving Walmart, & then Allen when we were heading towards Black's. apparently Jon Tang & Homo J were at the mall too! wow! talk about last minute Christmas shopping huh. :P
so we finished at around 6pm & came home for dinner & then to plan out the rest of the night. i was originally gonna either go out for dessert with Winnie & Emily, or watch a movie with Rebecca. neither materialized 'cuz Emily never called Winnie, & Rebecca had dinner plans.
well i wouldn't have gone out with Winnie & Emily anyway 'cuz i opted to chill with Mohammed who just came back from NY for a week or so for holidays. so we dropped by Jenise's place where she was having a potluck party with her classmates. so we hung around there for a while, & Mohammed played poker. i didn't play 'cuz i'm cheap. :P
later we called up Gordon, who was chilling with Loretta, to see what he was up to & if he wanted to hang out. so we went to Demetre's for some dessert (haha sorry Winnie! :P) & caught up with each other.
Friday was a good, company day. :)
on Saturday, i woke up a little earlier to eat lunch before the annual MCBC Christmas Bowl. the Bowl was held at the usual field at Sir Francis Xavier Catholic High School. football itself was pretty good, but the conditions were brutal. it was just above freezing, so it was a little warmer than normal, & the snow was just really heavy & wet. by the end of the day, all you could see on the field was slush & puddles. if you didn't get drenched, you didn't play hard enough.
Marc was the MVP that day as he made a lot of plays. he ran the ball, he blocked, he tackled, & he made interceptions. he was on his game. the quarterbacks had a pretty rough time out there 'cuz of the conditions. the ball was cold, wet, & slippery. you couldn't get any grip to throw a good long ball if it was needed. aside from all that, there were some good plays & hard hits. i think Matt had the hardest hits of the day. one of them i think was on the opening drive on Jay. i think he got hurt on that play, but he stuck it out. i hope he's ok. Homo J played well on the line too.
now, what would this post about football be without some personal highlights?! hehehe :P i'll tell you! i made two catches on the offense, one of them was for a first down. it was a baseball slide catch where i started from the outside on the left, & cut across into the middle to make the catch. i think the ball was intended for another receiver, but the ball was just going to no one, so i ran for it. some players were telling me that they thought the ball was gonna hit the ground, but then i came out of nowhere to grab it! hehehe! :D YEAH! blue lightining (i wore baby blue trackpants :P)!! :P
on the defense, i think i made some good plays. i mostly played cornerback & prevented maybe 2 or 3 passes. i also made some tackles on the running plays. the other team mostly ran the ball over passing.
towards the end of the game, i started to blitz a lot more & one of the blitzes paid off as i was able to catch them trying to reverse a play with Marc. i was able to take him down for a loss of about 5+ yards. that was my defensive highlight 'cuz i'm a pretty small guy, & Marc's a pretty big guy! :P
all in all, it was a fun Bowl, aside from the fact that i was drenched, cold, & i couldn't feel my toes! when i changed into my dry clothes, i swear, my clothes, especially the track pants, weighed about 15-20 pounds. try running in that!
later Saturday evening, i went to the MCBC Christmas Cantata. it was pretty short this year, but i fell asleep during the message. :S whoops! hahaha
went over to Mel's afterwards & chilled with her, Jen, Brenda (not Waterloo Brenda), & Alex. we watched Mystery, Alaska. it was a good prideful hockey flick that starred Russell Crowe.
so today is Christmas! Merry Christmas everyone! :)
i woke up for the service this morning, & it didn't seem as packed. i guess a lot of ppl had plans to do stuff for today. i also learned that a lot of ppl open their presents REALLY early, like at midnight or before church. :S i got a lot of, "what? you haven't opened your presents yet?!" haha..but yeah, normally my family likes to open our presents after lunch. hey, it's better than what we used to do! open them on Boxing Day!
so yeah, we opened our presents & i got a $200 gift card to Best Buy from my parents (birthday and Christmas), Band of Brothers dvd set from Rosemary, 2 pairs of winter gloves from Caralen, a gift card to Bluenotes from Jay, a box of beef jerky from my grandma (we pretty much expect this every Christmas haha).
i also got gifts from Rebecca (Max Lucado's Come Thirsty) & Melissa (cookies). as well, i got numerous cards! THANKS EVERYONE! :D
i have one more present to open 'cuz my sister's boyfriend hasn't arrived yet, so yeah..we'll see what that is! :P
so what's on the agenda for the rest of the day? i'm not sure if we're going to see King Kong anymore, but meh, it's not that important. we might just stay in & watch the Lord of the Rings trilogy while playing Risk. :P & of course CHRISTMAS DINNER! :D mmm yums! so today is a pretty laid back mellow day. :)
well better get back to the festivities! hope everyone has enjoyed their day & their holiday so far! :)
OH & this just in! MY SISTER JUST got ENGAGED!!!! AHHHHHHH!!! :D
