Doubleheader Saturday

i hope everyone had a fun Canada Day! :D

today was quite a long day. more on that later, but first let's talk about Friday.

Friday i woke up at around 1pm. aahhh..feels so good to sleep-in! :D but i would've slept later if i hadn't have to get up. my mom made my brother and i some fried rice for lunch since there was a lot of left over rice.

then my brother and i were off to Coliseum to meet up with Vince and Rebecca to watch War of the Worlds. the movie itself was not that bad, but there were some areas that i didn't really understand. the movie failed to explain what happened on the screen 'cuz some parts were misleading.

after the movie, my brother went home, while Vince, Rebecca and i ate at Jack Astor's. i decided to have fish and chips while they had a bucket of dry ribs. wasn't too bad, and it wasn't too expensive. it was pretty loud in there 'cuz i had to ask Vince and Rebecca to repeat a lot of what they said. which was either amusing or annoying. :P

anyway, over dinner, we discussed the options for the evening. Ray's BBQ, JOY fellowship, bike/rollerblade downtown Harbourfront to watch the fireworks. we decided on the latter.

anyway, a funny moment during dinner was that Rebecca noticed that our waiter had a key in his back pocket. it was sticking out. and we were like go grab the key from his pocket. so we told Vince to, but he didn't want to. haha, and then Rebecca made a grabbing motion towards the key. and then we all just looked at each other and then just bursted out laughing. hahaha..if you don't get it, don't worry about it. :P it was funny! haha

so, then Vince went home to grab his bike and blades, while Rebecca drove me back home to pick up the van. my brother helped me remove the back bench and a bucket seat in the van. then we drove our own cars back to Rebecca's.

the shed that held the bikes, as it turned out, was locked. we tried finding the key, but no avail, none of the keys fit into the keyhole. so we tried to take the handles off with a screw driver. but nope, they're nuts and bolts. smart!

so yeah, we gave up after a while and just headed down to Toronto with our blades. we parked..on the grass near Ellesmere and Lakeshore i think. made my own parking spot! haha..it was perfect. we got down there at around 9.45pm or so, and it was pretty dark by then. we didn't actually rollerblade anywhere though, so we just walked. we were afraid that we already missed the firework show. so we asked a couple and they said that that's what they were waiting for as well. so i just assumed that the fireworks probably started at 10.30pm if they hadn't started at 10pm yet.

we were near Sunnyside Restaurant or something. i dunno, we were near a swimming pool and a dock. we decided to watch the show on the wooden dock. i think Vince said that that's where they practice for dragonboat.

the show itself was pretty cool, but i wish i was able to hear the music. fireworks are so much better with music 'cuz then you're at least able to interpret the fireworks a little and see how much of an impact they make according to the song.

so yeah, got home from that at around 11.30pm-ish, dropped Vince off at Rebecca's so he could pick up his car, and he went home 'cuz he was too tired. Rebecca came over to watch a movie. we were watching Dogma, but she was too tired to finish it, so she went home.

this morning (Saturday) was umpire meeting for MCBCSL at 10.30am. Silas was able to come and pick me up to go so my brother didn't have to wake up early. the meeting itself was pretty short. it only took an hour and really it was to answer any questions we had, situational and all.

after that a bunch of us went to Square One to eat lunch. i had the popcorn chicken combo at KFC. :D yums! it was good! and then..went back to the diamond! haha..

first game of our doubleheader was a forfeit by Konoha 'cuz they only had 4 players that could play that weekend. pretty bad weekend to play i guess since everyone either went on vacation or had church retreats to go to. we were still able to get a game going, just not playing as hard. both Jay and i were transferred to play for the Konoha team, and Joel and Vince played for them too. it was good batting practice for us. :P

the 2nd game was against Ring of Fire. they were short players too, but it wasn't as bad as Konoha. they were still able to get a full field, but were missing two players 'cuz they had to be girls. they only had one girl playing that game. she must've been pretty tired. anyway, the game itself was pretty good. very close. down to the wire. we were able to muster out a win by one run. although, ROF should've won the game. like my brother said the "TSN Turning Point" was when Joel had runners on, i think, 1st and 3rd with 1 out, he hit the pitcher for an out. we really needed that out. the next batter just flew out to right. oh and a personal highlight. i made a diving catch on Marc and then doubled off a runner at 2nd base. :D hehe!

so tonight is poker night. i don't even know how many ppl are coming over. i guess we'll find out. no one is here yet as i type. oh wells.

oh, and i heard that the last game for today between Achoo and Play-doh got cancelled because of a serious injury. i heard what happened, and it sounds so scary! makes me think twice about pitching. but yeah, Maggie, you are in my prayers, and i pray that you will have a fully and speedy recovery. God will be with you.

everyone please pray for Maggie, for her health, and for her family.

i'm out for tonight. peace everyone.
