Saved by the Bell Opening Game

so today was the first games of MCBCSL2005. woke up at 10am because Joel was coming to pick me up at 10.45am to go to the diamond. he was having a small practice with some members of his team because they wanted it. so, got there at about 11.15am. no one got there until about 11.30am. then Joel and i went to McDonald's at around 12.10pm so i could grab lunch. then we made a detour errand for Joel, and then headed back to the diamond. i had to ump the first game, and the game started 15-20mins late.

i felt the first game was a little dry between Play-Doh and Ring of Fire. there wasn't enough..spirit i guess you could call it. not a lot of cheering. but i guess it was the heat. it made us dull, lazy, and tired. even us umps were a little sloppy. i made a bad call too. Silas made 2 booboos. but meh, they weren't major. mine was a miscall on a fair ball. i called it foul when it was actually fair 'cuz the ball bounce fair, and then the catcher caught it before it bounced in foul territory. oops! oh wells! Play-Doh eventually won over Ring of Fire. Ring of Fire, btw, has a pretty cool logo.

next game was my team, Saved by the Bell against Swiffer. the game itself started off slowly. but in the end it got better. i was a little frustrated at the beginning due to the lack of..good plays i guess, but Swiffer was hitting the balls into the right spots.

i think our team needs work. i don't understand why everyone thinks my team is stacked. i don't think we're stacked. i think we need a little work to sharpen, and help newbies the basics of the game. help them play their positions properly. it'll be a challenge. :) but yeah, it's only early in the season. lots of time and room for improvement, even for myself. i didn't play a very good game offensively. flied out, popped out, but got a triple on my last at-bat.

some other hilights from the day go to Kev Chui of Ring of Fire. he made an incredible diving catch at shortstop. the play was a line drive to his right. he slips on the gravel, but still manages to lunge his body back to the plate, reach behind him and snare the ball. awesome play. another would be Jeff Leung's diving catch in the outfield for us, almost got the short hop but was able to catch it before it hit the ground.

the weather was incredibly hot, i don't remember sweating so much during anything than i have during this heat wave. so hot.

in the evening, i went to the UWCCF Vision meeting at Mike's house. i got there a little late 'cuz i was gonna drive my brother to a pickup baseball game, but it was relocated to Milton, so i let him take the car instead and dropped myself off at Mike's. we were so pissed at my sisters 'cuz were were hoping that they'd be ok with picking up my brother after his game was over. but both of them said no. but at least one of them had a valid reason 'cuz she was going out later in the evening, but the other one is just so damn lazy. argh!

anyway, the meeting was about an hr long. i couldn't hear most of it 'cuz of the air conditioning fan. it was loud. i tried to turn my head so that my hearing aid faced the speaker, but it didn't really work. right now i'm wearing a temporary aid 'cuz mine broke out of the blue. i just woke up on Tuesday and it just wasn't working, so we went into Canada Hearing Centre and yeah, they sent it to the manufacturer to have it repaired. good thing it's still under warranty. :D

so after all the ideas were shared and ppl discussed it, it was bbq time. it was good, i think i ate more than usual, and drank pop more than usual. i think the final count for the night was 6 cans. lol! insane. talked with Mike a lot about softball since it's his first year and all. then Eric came over and we talked about how i stuck his Popple in the fridge. haha, funny thing was that Mike was the one that let Jeff and i in to the apartment. haha..funny!

after the bbq, my brother dropped the car off at Mike's house after he was finished playing baseball and Matt and Marc picked him up there. then later, a bunch of us went to see Batman Begins! yeah, i saw it again, paid for it again, but hey, it was on IMAX! bigger sound, bigger picture, and it was Batman man! haha..in the end it was all worth it. why? because we all got free movie passes. why? because the air conditioning wasn't working! hahhaa, how sweet is that? should go in there and break the AC every time so we can get free movies! hahaha..but yeah, it wasn't THAT bad in there, it's still well ventilated, and there were a lot of ppl there, it was packed!

oh yeah, Mike has turtles too! they were GIGANTIC! i can't explain how big they were, but i can show you how big they were! lol..he told me that they've been in his family for about 20yrs. i asked him what he fed them, and he just said, turtle food. i was like..that's it? and they got that BIG?! whoa! then i told him about Joel's cannibal turtle. haha..he was like.."what?! no way! that's gross!" haha..

anyway, tomorrow's gonna be a little different. instead of going to MCBC, i'll be heading over to MCAC to see Vicki's baptism. :) after that, i dunno, maybe i'll take in some of a softball game, and then it's STEAK DINNER! wooo! it's my daddio's bday! :D
