Toshiba Satellite P70

as i said yesterday, i went to the Scarborough store today with the Chain Manager today. and you all read (or i think you read) about how i hoped that it wouldn't be awkward and all.

well, i was proven wrong today. it was actually pretty nice. we were able to talk about a lot of different things, and nothing really related to work. so that was cool. i don't really like talking about work with the ppl i work with outside of work. you follow? :P

so yeah, it was good to get out of Boca for the day. :P anyway, i'll write this before i forget, i asked him, "What was the stupidest phone call you've ever received at work?" it took him a while to think of it, but he knew which one that made him laugh. he remembered, "It was this one guy that asked if we had any Canadian Wicker." hahaha..dumbass. there's no such thing as Canadian Wicker, wicker is grown in Asia.

so i spent the day at Image Rattan Furniture Centre, Scarborough Branch. i was there helping the chain manager set up the new computer and install the new software called, SmartVendor.

today wasn't really our day, or really his day. lol..first, we set up the Internet, everything was preordered and such beforehand, so all we had to do was hook everything up and it should work. but, the internet wasn't working. the DSL light on the modem wasn't on when it should've been. we checked and doublechecked all the phone filters. we even called customer service. nothing. so within the next 48hrs, it should work. internet wasn't really a necessary thing in setting up the new software though; however, it would've been nice to have.

so after "setting" that up, we set up the SmartVendor software. most of it was already set up prior to coming to Scarborough 'cuz the chain manager did it on his own time. all we had to do was transfer the Scarborough database from a cd. however, a dilemma, the data was nowhere to be found on any of the cds we had. wtf?! so we called the ppl at SmartVendor to see what was up, and they said that they had the data and were actually waiting to send it to us via Internet. haha..well, the Internet isn't working, so we asked them to burn it onto a CD and asked my uncle to go pick it up in Markham (where they're located) on his way over, since he lives in Markham and was coming to the store to learn the system (he had the day off today).

so yeah, we had nothing to do for a couple hours. the store opened at 10am and the set up took us about 2hrs i guess. with all the delays and stuff. anyway, my uncle came at around 2.30pm-ish with the disks and then we took the rest of the afternoon having the chain manager train him how to use the computer and software. you could tell that my uncle never uses computers 'cuz when we tell him to use the mouse to click on something, he just moves the mouse there, but doesn't click. hahaa. it was kinda funny, very old school he is.

so the store was suppose to close at 5.30pm, but i think we all left at 5pm. it wasn't busy today anyway, just 3 minor sales. i was falling asleep on the way back to Mississauga. pretty bad mang, haha i think the chain manager noticed 'cuz he was like, you're tired huh, pretty long day? haha, i was lik eyeah..had to go into Boca first and then come with you to Scarborough. anyway, the traffic wasn't so bad until we hit the area where the 400 merge with the 401. traffic here and there.

so yeah, on the way home, we also dropped by Rockwood Mall to pick up my new laptop for work. it's a Toshiba Satellite P70. it's pretty nice, LCD monitor, 75GB of memory, and a P4 processor. right now i'm watching The Rock on the computer 'cuz it also came with a DVD burner! man, now i want a laptop again.

so yeah, this laptop. i can't use it for personal use. i have to leave it at work. booo. lol..it's like the perfect personal computer for now. so yes, laptop is for work purposes only.

so anyway, tomorrow, back at Boca Rattan. back to Excel worksheets. yippie!
