Linsanity
If you have been around the past week and a half, you must've heard about this Asian-American NBA basketball player that took the nation...actually, the world by storm...Jeremy Lin of the New York Knicks.
Supremely talented and overlooked player all his life and he's finally getting his chance to become an NBA star. It's just funny how God worked things out for him, and Lin knows it.
I'm glad to be able to say that I actually knew about Jeremy Lin before he became a star. I drafted him in some of my Yahoo Fantasy Basketball pools last year, hoping that he'd make some sort of impact. But clearly he didn't until this year.
So some facts about JLin:
Lead his Palo Alto High School to the State Championship.
Recruited by Harvard University and that no top tier schools were interested in him. He turned Harvard's basketball program around.
He was undrafted coming out of university.
He signed with his hometown Golden State Warriors and was shuffled between the NBA and the NBDL just so that he got some playing time.
He was waived and claimed by the Houston Rockets.
He was waived again claimed by the New York Knicks.
He was a fourth string PG behind Shumpert, Davis, and Bibby, and when they all turned out to be somewhat ineffective, Coach D'Antoni gave Lin a shot and the rest is history.
Most of all, he is Christian and open about it, much like Tim Tebow.
I'm looking forward to see more Jeremy Lin highlights and I pray that this week wasn't just some one week wonder type of thing. I hope that he is in the NBA to stay and the new star of the league.
