W2006 Da Been Lo - Game 4: 4-4 T
while this is still fresh in my mind. & Mohammed, this is a hockey post! :P but i'm involved! :P haha
in retrospect, i should've shot the puck!
in further retrospect, Da Been Lo played our 4th game this afternoon at the CIF & what a game it turned out to be. it was loaded with action, & some missed calls! *arms crossed* but it was still a good game nonetheless. as you probably figured out from the title heading of this blog, we tied the game 4-4. we had a really good chance at the end of the game though. oh, i just noticed, it was game 4, & the score was 4-4. that's like, if you're superstitious & Chinese - DIE DIE DIE! :P
so let's get on to the game recap. like always, i never talk about the other team in detail. :P
we started the game with a goalie, 3 defensemen, & 2 forward lines. i was on the line with dude & Justin again, while Jon centered Drew & Shaun.
we opened up the game a little shaky, weren't moving the puck very well, but on our next shift we scored! who scored? ME! :P haha it was really good. man, i gotta learn dude's name (center). i think his name starts with an 'M'. anyway, yeah, we were in our defensive zone, & yeah, we broke out, & i kinda just took off. he passes to me as i already beat the two defencemen at the red line. almost missed the pass, but i was able to reach & control the puck by the blue line & went in alone & shot it top left corner! WOO! & i did let out a big WOOOOO!! :D yeah! :D so good! :D
then they tied it. booo!
so then we took the lead again when um..i think it was Drew who scored. he's the really tall lanky guy. good player! better than me. anyway, i think he scored on a goalmouth scramble. yeah! we lead again!
and then they scored again. dah heck.
today there was only one ref for the game. normally there are 2 refs, but i guess they were short 'cuz of reading week or whatnot. anyway, the play was, we were in the offensive zone, & the other team just cleared it out of the zone. when the ref turned his back & started up the ice, some dude on the other team just kinda takes a shot at me & knocks me over into the boards as i was trying to get back. kinda harmless? not really, i had enough momentum that i kinda slammed into the boards arms first, luckily was able to shield my head, but man..INTERFERENCE big time! i couldn't complain, the ref didn't see it, but what a cheapshot. Jon kinda complained to the ref too after the next stoppage. but no avail. i swear, if i had more speed & momentum, i think i would've hurt my back a lot more. right now it's a little sore. shake my fist at stupid guy! :P i bite my thumb at you!
anyway, redemption was coming & oh did it come! it was a sweet sweet play! again, we break out of our defensive zone, dude passes it up to Justin on the left wing & he crosses the blue line, & i'm just streaking in between right wing & center, & Justin centers to me. accept the pass with my backhand & transferred to my forehand & shot it top left corner again. that time, i just shot it on net hoping it'd go in! hahaha :P & it worked! it was the prettiest, nicest passing play i've been a part of & i was glad i was able to finish it off with a goal! :D SOO GOOD!
but then they scored two more goals! thus taking the lead! dah heck! yeah this was in the 3rd period too now. we're losing! noooooooo!
so yes, we were down with about a minute & a half to go. we were about to pull our goalie, & right when he broke for the bench, i think Shaun scored, but i didn't see how it went in, it looked like another goalmouth scramble though, so it could've been either Shaun or Drew that scored.
so in a last minute effort, dude & i went out & replaced some of the weaker & tired players. we had one last rush with about 20 seconds to go, Jon was able to knock it out into the neutral zone where i picked it up & took it in, it was like a 2-on-1 with 2 trailing the play, i saw Drew on the left wing, wide open & tried to saucer the puck over to him, but the defenceman made a nice play in knocking it down with his stick. BOOO!

as for my reading week itinerary, that'll go up tomorrow, since technically, reading week isn't over yet! :P
