Busy Weekend

first of all..

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to all mothers out there! :D

let's start off on Saturday

i woke up to my brother seemingly angry with me at around 2pm (went to bed at like 5am the previous night). apparently, my dad wanted me to run some errands for him in the afternoon. he wanted me to get gas for the van since it was practically empty. personally, i think my brother should've been the one to fill it up, it has it 4 times a week for the whole night on those days. but anyway, got gas, then went to my dad's store, Rattan Furniture Centre to drop off and pick up some patio swivel chairs. we were exchanging them for some better ones. haha..i guess there's an advantage for owning a store eh? :P after doing that, i had to drop by the Goodwill store on Mavis and Burnhamthorpe to drop off some old clothes for donations. wow, there were a lot of donations. there was like barely any room to walk around it!

through all that, i didn't really have time to eat a proper lunch. i only had a piece of Baci chocolate for the whole afternoon. i just chilled for the rest of the afternoon and watched the 2nd half of the Canada/Sweden game in the World Hockey Championship. wow, never seen Canada play so poorly, well except for at the Olympics, but they made that up. they're not playing very well at the moment. boo!

at around 4.30pm, i started to get ready for my cousin Glen's wedding reception. he got married sometime in the last year. i believe he proposed in March 2004 and got married sometime since. rumour has it that he got married quickly 'cuz his fiancee had visa problems? i'm not totally sure.

we left the house at around 5pm and headed over to my grandma's place to pick her up and then off to Markham where the restaurant was. it looked like my cousins rented out the whole restaurant for the night, unless there was another section to the restaurant i don't know about.

anyway, i passed out during the drive up. i was pretty tired. i tend to pass out more often when i'm a passenger, don't know why. well, we arrived at the restaurant and it turns out that we were the first guests to arrive. but then again, it shouldn't be surprising. knowing my dad, he's very rushrush person. always rushing us to get out of the house when we're going to a family function. we arrived at 6pm, and we were so early that even the parents of the married couple weren't even there yet. :S but, we were told by Aunt Shirley (Glen's mom) to be there at 6pm so we could take pictures and stuff with the couple. but that obviously didn't happen. chinese time, what can i say?

anyway, we learned that my sisters got place at a different table from the rest of us, which is kinda odd, but i guess they did that to make the table numbers work. we had a total of 10ppl at our table. it was pretty cramped, but it worked i guess. the dinner itself was pretty good. i, surprisingly, ate something in almost every dish! :O since i'm a picky eater! :P

before we had the dinner, there was a lot of mingling going on. well, during that time, i was wondering who else was sitting at our table. so i asked my dad who was sitting with us. so he replies with "Ho chee, Janice and Peter" which translates to "Looks like (or I think) Janice and Peter." i totally heard this differently and knowing me, i mishear A LOT of things. but i dunno, something just didn't click in my head. i dunno why, but i didn't think my dad was speaking chinese, so i was like, "Who is Ho Chee?" and i asked this a couple times, before my brother steps in and says he said "ho cheeee" so i was like..OOOOOOOHHHHH "hoooo cheee" HAHAHAH..my brother and i just started to laugh hysterically for about 5mins..man i'm sooo DUMB! hahaha..it was pure jokes though. i'm such a dumbass! hahahaha..that just goes to show how bad my Cantonese is! haha..

the reception was pretty good and it kinda shyed (sp?) away from the traditional wedding receptions, like the clanking of the glasses for a kiss by the couple, instead they played a short game. it seems that seems that modern receptions are heading in that direction - more games.

on a somewhat related note, Glen's new wife is kinda cute! as is her twin sister! hahaha.. :P they were always smiling :) it was cute!

anyway, finally got home at around midnight. they were opening up the dance floor at around 11.30pm, but i think most of us just upped and left instead. i think everyone was just tired.

Sunday was a pretty busy day as well.

woke up for church and went with my sister this week. my brother took the van to the grand opening of MCMAC. i shall visit their new church sometime. :)

before i left to go home after church service, i found my grandma and said Happy Mother's Day to her. and then proceeded to come home soon after. my sister doesn't like hanging around after service probably because she doesn't know anyone. and she doesn't really make the effort to meet anyone either. which kinda annoys me 'cuz then i can't really hang around and talk to some ppl.

so came home, and made a pizza for lunch. veeeerry cheesy. left after eating lunch, which was around 12.45pm, for SportChek to glove shop since my glove finally broke last week. i've had that glove since i was in grade 7. i found a new glove, a Rawlings glove called The Bull. it's a 12.5" leather glove. it was on sale for $89.99, so i got it for just over $100 with the taxes. it was originally priced at $119.99! :D the funny thing about the glove is that on the thumb it says "The Gold Glove Co." haha i won the Gold Glove award last year for MCBCSL. haha.. :P

after i bought the glove, we had 45mins to kill. so we went to the other SportChek to check out the gloves they had there. i found a Nike glove..same price same size. i opted to stay with Rawlings 'cuz i think the quality would be better. afterall, Rawlings IS a baseball company. after that we headed over to Chapters and just bummed around in there for a while.

we arrived at the diamond at around 2.05pm (would've been earlier if i didn't have to wait so long at the Mavis and Eglinton left turn lane..stupid!). Wilson and Steve were already waiting there. we didn't have to wait long for more ppl to arrive.

i started to work in my glove immediately and to get used to it. catching and throwing with it. right now it's alright, it's still new. but i made a lot of errors when it came to catching grounders and such. so much for being a Gold Glover eh?

after about 30-45mins of batting practice and such, we had enough ppl for a game, 7-8ppl per team. we randomized the teams by using gloves. it was a pretty good game. a lot of ppl are still rusty..including me. thinking of making it a weekly thing now. but we'll see. :)

we finished at around 4pm 'cuz my brother and i had to leave so we could get ready for tonight. got home at around 4.30pm after dropping Steve off at home.

we went out for Mother's Day dinner at 6pm. we had reservations at Canyon Creek down by Square One. here's a little equation:

filet mignon + sauteed mushrooms = very full me!

to top it off, instead of getting the regular mints with the bill, we got Lindt L
indor chocolates! one each person! my mom and dad didn't want theirs, so my brother and i got an extra piece! it was YUMS! :D i totally felt the itis after dinner. passed out on the car ride home!

i'm so full right now..i don't even want to move. but i know that i'll have to work off all of tonight's food somehow. it's 11.30pm, and i'm STILL full from dinner..oh man..

i'm out..maybe gonna watch Happy Gilmore :D
