Happy New Year - 2005

Monday, January 3, 2005 - 2.29am

it's a beginning of a new year. a new fresh start once again.

back in Waterloo for my 5th winter. wow. seems like i've been here forever. anyway, moved in today into my new home. no more WCRI (at least for this term anyway), and back to my old ways when i lived in 95 Columbia (which is now a frat house :P). back to those pizza pops, honey garlic chicken wings, mini pizzas, etc. however, i do plan on being MORE healthier. i've been cutting down on the pop consumption, although, it might help if i had some water here tho. lol! :P

anyway, i moved in today with Jeff after lunch, Ben's coming in tomorrow. the new place isn't so bad. i actually like it, it's nice and small, it's relatively clean (well there's a lot of dead potato bugs, but those are harmless). but yeah, it's totally liveable. :) all the room are slightly bigger than my 95 Columbia room, so it's not so bad. i need a rug tho. :P so yeah, spent the majority of the afternoon until dinner time unpacking. so i'm somewhat settled in. like always i always forget something, i forgot my desk chair and my hockey sticks!! :O

dinner was what mom made for me, some yee mein (e-mein?). it's good! better than those that are served in restaurants! :D and watched the Chappelle Show with Jeff. we only got through 2 episodes. then we switched to Smackdown! vs. Raw, and had a couple matches in the royal rumble and elimination chamber. i won most of the time heheheh! :P after we got bored of that, we tried to watch some Stephen Chow movies, Fight Back to School Part I didn't work, but Part II did, so we watched that. it was alright. i remember it being funnier though, but that was when i was a little kid. after that, Jeff crashed, and i started playing Smackdown! vs. Raw again. i played it until i unlocked Bret 'The Hitman' Hart. :P i started a season too in the game with Shelton Benjamin and i've already won the Intercontinental Championship. i think i have a World Heavyweight Championship shot coming up! :D most of you guys have no idea what i'm talking about, but...oh well! :P

so yeah, now here i am.

i'm trying to reflect back on MY 2004 year, but all i can really think about is how terrible 2004 was internationally. i've dubbed 2004 as the Year of the Disaster. we've seen multiple hurricanes tear up the Southeastern US and the Caribbean and lately the tsunami in Southeastern Asia. then there is still that 'War in Iraq' crap that's going on. ppl are dying needlessly. i don't understand why troops are there. someone please explain to me, until then, i'll keep thinking that it's so stupid. what else happened in 2004? that Urkrainian guy that got poison is so sad. i can't believe ppl would go that far just to sabotage an election. oh and Bush got re-elected to be the Prez of the US. i wonder what he'll do next.

now as for me, i'll try to look back at the year. but i can only think of the year in thirds.

January-April was just winter term here in Waterloo and i guess it was the beginning of me bringing up my marks, and finally getting off probation. it feels good, and i'm actually starting to feel that my hard work is starting to pay off. i can only pray that my marks will keep soaring in 2005. German was one of the highlights of winter 2004. it was such a fun class. i recommend it to everyone. i played a lot of sports too i believe. i played for a couple intramural teams with WCRI, broomball (one game haha), indoor soccer. oh i guess that was it, it felt like more. i played in the badminton club and i was actually a part of a winning team that won the Pointfore tournament! my team consisted of Jane and Brian. yay! we got a new badminton racquets for winning the tournament. so that was pretty cool!

May-August was basically summer break, so that meant a job and none other than MCBCSL. i worked for my dad again during the summer, but this time no hard labouring in the warehouse. i got to work in the office this time. i mainly dealt with accounts receivables, "computer IT," and a host of other miscellaneous projects. softball was fun. i played for Stumped! captained by Jeff C and Gennie. they were pretty good captains, and i still can't believe that we made it all the way to the championship game during the tournament, ESPECIALLY knowing what i do know..right Jeff? *wink* that was tons of fun tho. the regular season was interesting, i'll leave it at that. but lots of friendships were made stronger, closer, and new ones were made. the tournament and banquet really capped off the season on a positive note and probably could be the deciding factor of whether i'll play in the summer of 2005.

however, not to say that the entire summer was positive though. there were some personal issues that i had to deal with, and i dealt with them. but, that's all i'm really gonna say about that. i don't need to, nor do i want to elaborate on this issue. in a sense, by the time August came around, i was kinda glad that it was time to go back to school. i needed some away time from Mississauga.

September 6th-11th i went on my very first cruise. we went to the West Caribbeans. our cruise got shorten because of the hurricanes that were wreaking havoc in Florida and the Caribbeans. but we were able to go nonetheless. it was quite an experience. the boat was HUGE, it was pretty cool. they even had a small ice rink inside the boat. how cool is that? i, of course, went skating with my brother. we also gambled in the casino. it's really true when they say that "there's something for everyone" on that ship. since our trip was shorten, each cabin was given $500 bucks to spend on the ship only, so we each got watches and paid for various other things with it. lol..we also got 50% off our next cruise! SWEET! :D anyway, the cruise was a blast, i had a lot of fun.

September-December. so basically fall 2004 term. rough time for me physically and perhaps, mentally. school was alright, fine and dandy. played intramurals with WCRI again, this time, it was for volleyball. i played in 1 rec league game, and 1 competitive league game before i was felled by an injury during pre-game warmups for the 2nd com game. i was jumping to block a kill, but when i landed, i didn't land properly and severely rolled my right ankle. it was severly sprained, and i couldn't run for about a month and a half. so that was eating me 'cuz i was also playing ice hockey for CCF. i missed 2 games in all. i never played vball again that term, but i was able to come back for hockey. but as of now, the ankle is alright, but i think i'll start feeling discomfort again when i start using it for sports again. hopefully my using it will strengthen the ankle and adapt as well. but back to the hockey team, the team really grew as each game passed as we started to play better and better. we even almost pulled an upset in the 1st round of the playoffs, only to lose it on a fluke goal. :( oh well, always this term! ;P can't wait!

now mentally, for some reason, it was really weird. whenever i turned my head to the right, or tilted my head backwards, i'd get really dizzy. sometimes even when i'm lying in my bed looking straight up at the ceiling, i'd feel that my eyes were rolling backwards on me and like, it'd loop, as in, it'd keep rolling back, and then roll back to the front and then to the back again... it was so odd and freaky at the same time!!! i guess it was WCRI 'cuz after a while when i was back home for Christmas, it was back to normal, no more dizziness. i hope it doesn't start again, because if it does, i'll blame it on Waterloo.

so this brings me to the past holiday season. the last 2 weeks with no school, back at home in Mississauga. i must say, it was a fun holiday, although i wasn't able to see everyone that i'd normally see during the holiday season. some ppl were too busy, or i was too busy, or it just didn't work out 'cuz we'd have different days that we could hang out. i'm kinda at awe that the holiday is already over and that school has already started up again. though, for some schools they don't start for another week, so those ppl are lucky. but i guess that it goes to show that the holiday passed by so quickly 'cuz we were too busy having fun to notice time. you know that cliche, "time flies when you're having fun." i really think that this holiday season really defined that.

some holiday hilights would include hot pot at Andre's x2, car troubles with Joyce (ahaha, hope the car's all better now!), mall with Joyce and Odie (too bad we couldn't do the mission Odie!), ice skating at Harbourfront Centre, Silas' party (and my surprise cake), Ocean's 12 with Becks, MCBC traditional Christmas Day football, shopping in Buffalo with family, Meet the Fockers with Gen, Joyce's bday party, New Year's Eve, crepes at Syv's. it was fun-filled, i dunno if i got it all, but yeah, packed and it was great to see everyone that i could before another 4 months in the 'Loo.

it ain't over yet, i still got one more day of this holiday, and i hopefully i use it well! :D

g'nite y'all!

spideymang in!

so i woke up today at around 1pm and found Jeff playing Smackdown! vs. Raw. he started a season with Rey Mysterio. i had him save on my other memory card so that it doesn't wipe out my Shelton Benjamin season. but yeah, i had my lunch and called Odie to see what was up. she came over, and gave her the grand tour of our small place. then Ben also came and moved in, and then left again with his family.

so Odie, Jeff, and i just chilled, and picked a movie. we tried to get her to watch Seven, but she refused 'cuz it was a thriller. she doesn't like them very much, or she just doesn't like to show her emotions! :P so we narrowed it down to Old School and Bad Boys II. in the end, BBII was chosen, so we watched that. it was fun watching the movie, as well as watching Odie's reaction to like the dead bodies and some unexpected gunfiring. awww..but she had some protection from Flipper! ;P haha :P it was nice seeing you one last time before you leave!

the rest of the day was kinda a blur. by the time Odie left it was dinner time, so we made separate dinners, and took turns playing Smackdown. then we decided to head to campus to use the computers there since we didn't have internet here and Jeff needed to check his class schedule too.

so we went to the computer lab and who do we see there? hot bubbletea girl! HAHAHAHA!! the original computer i chose was not in view of her, but it wasn't working, so i had to take the next seat over which was in view of her. haha..but he back was facing me. haha..i wonder when she graduates so i don't have to talk about the hot bubbletea girl haha! :P but i refuse to talk to her because i don't know her and i have no reason to! :P

anyway, we left at around 10.30pm, and then stopped by Joyce Y's place and just chatted for about an hour about whatever. it was a nice chat. we talked about the holiday and how much we are tired of Waterloo and how much we don't want to be here! haha...the holiday was definately too short. like we just got out of here, and now we're back here. it sucks! we also teased Joyce about how she is so technologically updated. she has like every electronic toy you'd want! not fair! :P but i guess she worked hard to get some of those expensive toys. :) so we left her 'cuz she had to wake up early for an 8.30am class. we shall squash it up with her too!

on the way back to our place, we found William on the road. he turned around and we talked to him in the middle of the road! hahaha! there were no cars coming! lol so that was like 2mins, and then he parked somewhere and caught up to us. so he came over to our place for a little while to check it out and stuff. but he had to leave too 'cuz of 8.30am class too! haha..Ben, Jeff, and i have pretty open schedules this term, so we have a lot of time to do whatever AND study. we're planning on playing squash at least once a week. for me, i plan on playing badminton every week as well, and on top of that, there's also hockey. so it'll be a busy winter, sports-wise. :D

after William left, Ben was able to set up the internet somehow. i don't know how he did it, i think he was using his old account or something..and yeah he got it working. so here we are..on the internet. it was funny though. as soon as we had internet, everyone was on their own computer for most of the night haha! whatever happened to the ps2 playing? LOL..kinda sad. :P

anyway, this shall be it for now! time to sleep 'cuz this superhero's got class tomorrow at 1pm! time to get depressed in Holocaust and Film in the afternoon, and then in the evening..i haven't decided what to do. go to night class, Contemporary Japanese Society, or skip it for the World Junior Championship Finals! i skipped my first night class of the term last term for World Cup Semis! ah, we'll see tomorrow.

g'nite y'all! good luck to those in study terms, and have fun to those on work term!

may 2005 be a great year! :)
