Are You Thirsty For More?

ha the famous line from Home Alone when Kevin McAllister is sitting on the top of his stairs.

anyway, this has nothing to do with Home Alone. continuing with my reading of Come Thirsty, i wrote down a few notes, and maybe i'll comment on some of them too.

most of these are quotes taken straight out of the novel itself, in the "When Death Becomes Birth" chapter (verses may not be accurate):
  • from God's perspective, there's nothing to grieve because "The day you die is better than the day you are born (Eccles 7:1)."
in this sense,
  • the angels watch body burials the same way grandparetns monitor delivery-room doors...while we're driving hearses and wearing black, they're hanging pink & blue streamers & passing out cigars.
see,
  • your death may surprise you & sadden others, but heaven knows no untimely death: "You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed. (Ps. 139:16)".
  • dread of death ends when you know heaven is your true home.
you can kind of relate this to The Matrix. the "real world" in which Neo, Morpheus, Trinity & co. live in is the so-called heaven in the movie, whereas, the matrix is the world we're living in now. just a temporary stop for us. a temporary home away from the real home in heaven.
  • imagine your last breath, envision your final minutes, & offer them to Him.
pray to the mighty Lord:
  • "Lord, I receive your work on the cross & in your resurrection. I entrust you with my departure from earth
  • with Christ as your friend & heaven as your home, the day of death becomes sweeter than the day of birth.
on to the next chapter, entitled "With Heart Headed Home". these are the lines that really popped out for me:
  • live with a heart headed home (which is HEAVEN)
  • We wait anxiously for the day when God will give us our full rights as his children, including the new bodies he has promised us. Now that we are saved, we eagerly look forward to this freedom. For if you already have something you don't need to hope for it. But if we look forward to something we don't have yet, we must wait patiently and confidently (Rom. 8:23-25)
we should search for God excitedly, with passion, joy, laughter, enthuisam. that's something i try to strive for, despite the hardships in life that i've encountered, whether it be with personal, emotional, physical or whatever it might be. i have to remember that God has so much more in store for me, & that things will happen when i least expect it.
  • Let heaven fill your thoughts. Do not think only about things down here on earth (Col. 3:2)
  • every homeless day carries us closer to the day our Father will come.
judgement day will soon come. i hope i have done well for you my Lord, despite my young age.

*note: i'm not posting these at work, it's unpossible 'cuz i don't have internet at work!*
