W2006 Da Been Lo - Quarter-Final Playoff: 7-1 L
so i haven't been on the losing-that-bad side of a game in a while, maybe not since i started playing ice hockey.
but wow, 7-1. they mercied us in a playoff game. that's kinda sad. so, let's start making some excuses. :) for one, we were missing a lot of players that could've made an impact. we couldn't sustain any puck control in the offensive zone. our defense as a team was kinda crappy. we were short on defensemen, so one of our centers had to play a position they weren't accustomed to all season.
that being said. it doesn't matter. we didn't show up. we didn't play like we wanted it. or maybe the other team was just better than us.
the turning point in the game was just one really bad shift. we let in about 3-4 in succession in a span of less than 5mins. i think my brother even told me that he got up to leave at 3-1 & by the time he left the arena it was 5-1. that's kinda brutal! :S
the game started off pretty evenly i guess. it was tied 1-1 after one period. they blew it open in the middle of the 2nd period with a 4-goal outburst. they iced the game with about 4mins left in the 3rd period.
so, let's talk about goals. they scored most, if not all, of their goals on scrambles or in close. thinking about it, all the goals were from in close.
our lone goal came in the 1st period. i was actually chasing after the puck that was sliding into the offensive zone, then it took a really wacky bounce off the boards which toally surprised me, thus i majorly overskated it. luckily i was already onside & another player was behind me following, so i just skated into the corner where it was dumped. turned around & just fired a centering pass to Adam. he was stopped from in close, & then there was a scramble, Kerian found it & put it in pass the sprawling goalie. woo..at least i got a point in the game. :D
there isn't much to talk about the game. the other team played well, & clean. there wasn't any hitting unlike the past games we've had against other opponents. they deserved to win. :)
so that's it. university ice hockey career is over. unless i come back as an alumni to play. i just realized that we didn't take a team picture either. dah, what can ya do. OH, if anyone has the F2005 hockey team picture, please send it to me! :D or even the F2004 & W2005 team pictures! THANKS!
