A Real (Long) One
a real blog is in order, and it's what you're gonna get. and trust me, it's gonna be a long read, so sit back, relax, & enjoy..or fall asleep. whichever comes first. :D
so right now i'm feeling a little elated..relieved. :) actually, a little tired too 'cuz i think i just played like 4hrs of Burnout 3 we borrowed from Sam Ip. Lorna & i are hooked. soon we'll get Betty & maybe Gabe hooked as well. mwahaha!
so yeah, i think i'm gonna talk about today (Tuesday) & then back track to, well last Tuesday or Wednesday. good thing i kept notes in my planner! :P haha yes, i'm weird. :)
so today, i woke up & skipped my first 2 classes 'cuz i was really unprepared for my Introduction to Human Sexuality (ItHS) test. like i've never felt so unprepared for a test, & it was a really crappy feeling. i prayed to God that he'd help me. hopefully i didn't do TOO badly on it. i was able to answer maybe 70% of the questions the first time through, & assuming they're all right. :S then the rest of the 30% i pretty much guessed on them. :S that's not cool yo.
anyway, that was that. test was over, & my 3 week freedom begins...ok well, not really 3 weeks, but i have nothing to do until finals start. no more term tests. no more papers. no more assignments. :D i'm happy. for now. :P i only have 1 final during final exam period (ItHS); however, i do have a take home exam due on Dec 17th (Sociology of Education - SoE), but should be handed in on the 16th if i don't want to go to the exam time which is at 7pm, i believe. i have another take home final that's due when the exam period begins (Psychology of Adolescence - PoA). so i SHOULD have ample time to complete everything.
anyway..so after PoA class tonight, i headed over to plaza, in the pouring rain, to grab some dinner at Mikey's Eatery. shanghai noodles with shrimp & bbq pork. SOOO GOOOD! :D mmm. but man, i was drenched! when i got home, Betty couldn't tell if i was dry or not. crazy! so yeah, i ate my dinner while watching Road Trip, & then later played Burnout 3.
so..let's go back in time to last Tuesday shall we?
Tuesday's Randoms:
uh, not much to say except that whenever i was greeted by anyone, they noticed what i was wearing on Monday. & that was my white AsianAvenue.com shirt. hahaha..EVERY asian knows about AA! but the shirt is so comfortable &, dare i say, fashionable! ;P
i also wrote my PoA test on this night. i wasn't feeling that confident going in 'cuz i wasn't able to read all the material..i think. i don't even remember. i might've, but i'm not sure. but i studied for it on Sunday & Monday. even though i wasn't feeling confident in writing it, & completely bs-ing the final short answer question worth 14 marks. i got 4.25 marks out of it in the end. combined with the first short answer question & multiple choice, i managed to improve from the 1st test by getting a 70% on it! SCORE! :D i'm happy.
after the test, my intramural volleyball team had our last regular season game. we lost. i don't even know what our record is, but i know that it's a losing one. i might be something like 2-4..i'm not sure.
the rest of Tuesday night was spent..beginning to study for Educational Psychology (EP) test 3 slated for Thursday afternoon.
Wednesday Randoms:
for some reason on this day, the Hoobastank song, The Reason was hitting me. i dunno. "I found a reason for me/to change who I used to be/a reason to start over new/& the reason is you." *shrugs* i forget what the significance of that was. oh well!
while i was studying for EP (which i was doing for the whole day), i came across a quote i found interesting, maybe ppl can find some connection to it, or some deeper meaning to it. maybe it'll serve as an inspiration or something.
i dunno. beats me.
all this studying in EP made me think back to one of my most memorable semesters in highschool, when i had the 4 most coolest teachers in all of Erindale Secondary School. Mr. Oikawa for Physics, Mr. Tomlinson for Biology, Mr. McMullin for Accounting, & Mr. Cross for Physical Education. each teacher had a unique character to themselves, & were able to make the class laugh & actually ENJOY learning.
Mr. O was a unique character because he was able to make Physics a lot easier to learn for the class (maybe i had a lot of help from my friends as well), but we did a lot of cool experiments & projects in that class. for our ISUs (Individual Study Unit) we had choices of building bridges, catapults, or just writing a report. most of the class opted to build something while only a handful chose the report. i chose the report, 'cuz i didn't want to build anything & it turns out i made a good decision as the ppl who wrote reports did a lot better than the ppl who build things 'cuz they couldn't meet the criteria set for the project. SCORE! :P hahaa, anyway, i guess what i most remember about Mr. O was the fact that he threw foam bricks at students, & in OAC, he was constantly making fun of me & my gf (now ex) in highschool since she was just on the other side of the wall in a different classroom.
Mr. T was an awesome Biology teacher. he'd make it so interesting to us, even though we had to write SO MUCH. he was probably my favourite teacher 'cuz he was also one of those teachers that liked to interact with the students, & actually be friends with them. he would also find different ways in explaining complicated things in biology. i have long forgotten what they were, it's been ages. :P i liked how he'd mark our assignments and tests 'cuz he'd leave funny comments, abbreviations for his overal comments. "CBNC" stood for "close but no cigar" & my personal favourite was "J" which stood for "jerk" for getting perfect. HAHAHA..it was so funny. another thing was that he'd used to like playing with my FM system i used in highschool (i never really used it here in university 'cuz of complications with the system here & my current hearing aid). he'd make the microphone wire into a hangman's noose! haha..it was so creative. & then when students in the hallway or ppl who'd come to visit him & ask him what he was wearing (the FM system) he'd say it's his pacemaker. HAHAHA! so funny! i was lucky to have him as my bio teacher before he left for Lorne Park to head the Science department there.
Mr. McMullin was a cool Accounting teacher. even though i only had him for Grade 11 accounting, that was enough to put him into my books as one of my favourite highschool teachers. he would always talk about his home life & how he loved his toys at home, & how he could afford 'em 'cuz he had no kids. haha..& when he'd get serious about telling us something serious or to tell someone off, he'd tell us to give 'em the finger. HAHAHA..so funny. i think he retired before i could have him for OAC accounting. would've been a lot more interesting with him as my teacher then.
Mr. Cross was my gym teacher. he was a wacky character too. but for some reason, i don't remember much from gym class! haha..but he was still a cool teacher! :P
wow, that was a really fun semester! good memories! :D
Thursday Randoms:
got my SoE fact sheet back finally. man, my prof delayed that for like 2 weeks. when we got it back, she told us to add another 5% to mark we got & that would be our mark for the fact sheet. sweet! she also told us that we could have until the end of the term to revise it & try to get a better mark. as for me, i'm not gonna bother 'cuz the comments she gave me would mean i'd have to do the whole fact sheet over. my sheet was focusing on how delinquency affects education, but apparently it was more focused on delinquency more than education. so i don't really want to redo it. i ended up with a 69.5% on the fact sheet WITH the 5% addition, so really a 70% if you want to round it up. i think it's decent for my first fact sheet, & hopefully my last for my university career.
came home after class & crammed like crazy for the EP test. i think was a lot more prepared for this test then the PoA test. so yeah, went & wrote it. came out feeling pretty confident. i felt that it was the easiest of the 3 we've written. turns out, i got the same freaking mark as my 2nd test! WTF mate?! another 73%? boo, i thought i did a lot better. :( oh well, 73% is still good.
so anyway, on this day, i also noticed this hot blonde girl that's like in almost all my classes this term. i swear, she looks like a blonde version of Evangeline Lilly from Lost (she plays Kate). haha that's all i'll say about her....but once more. she's HOT! OW! ;P
so yeah, then went to the PAC for the final regulation game for my intramural basketball team. i think it was the SOC game actually (awarded to the teams with the 2 highest SOC scores). we lost the game. boo. i suck too. i haven't played basketball since the summer MCBC tournament. :S
after that, went to Alpha with Ray. just got there before they started the video. don't remember much from Alpha, i think the topic was prayer though. prayer is good. God will always answer your prayers. :D whether you like it or not!
after Alpha, came home & ate my leftovers from earlier in the day when i took a study break for dinner. watched the end of CSI, ER, news, Daily Show, & then broke out Any Given Sunday & watched it with Betty, Lorna, & Alex. it was a night of relaxation! :D
Friday Randoms:
pretty much started my research for my SoE brief research report that was due on Monday. my plan originally was to have all the research done on Friday, & have the paper written by Saturday. did that happen? NOOOOO! i actually finished the paper on Sunday morning at 5am. more on that later though.
went to CCF, which was a Bible study on humility i think? dang, i don't really remember. it was a complicated passage. it was taken from James 4:1-10.
after CCF went to The Grill with Betty, Denise, Alan, Kar-Wai, & a dude named Nicolas. they have good burgers & i actually dressed my burger with something! sauteed mushrooms & onions! SOOO GOOOD! :D
came home & did more research on articles, but stupid UW Library was having problems, so thankfully Odie was around & i asked her if i could use the library at UCalgary for my journal articles. Thanks Odie! :D
Saturday Randoms:
yeah, um, i did all readings of the journals i found for my topic, which was Children & Media Literacy. we had to choose from 51 articles our prof gave us & use that as our "base article." so i naturally chose one that interested me, & what drew me in was the word "Xbox" on the title. haha..& it was a good topic!
so yeah, the whole day, i was just reading up, & highlighting. & then, watched both Hockey Night in Canada games, Leafs vs. Canadiens & Avalanche vs. Flames.
Sunday Randoms:
went to CFC for church service. back home for lunch, & then watched football. haha..as you can see, i was "procrastinating." i just didn't want to start yet. it was Bills vs. Chiefs on Global. so watched the game with Betty. i guess she was procrastinating too. :P
anyway, finally got around to starting the paper at like 4pm when the game was over. i think i had enough play time & had to get started on writing it. then Anthony msgs me with completely shocking news. Eddie Guerrero passed away! was so shocked when i heard this, i was like no way! it was like Owen Hart all over again.
if i lost anyone, Owen Hart & Eddie Guerrero are wrestlers for the WWE. Hart died a couple years ago in a freak accident where he fell like over 50ft into the ring 'cuz he was coming to the ring from the roof in an arena on live pay-per-view. shocking. Eddie's death is just as shocking. it's just surreal. i got my brother to tape this week's Raw and Smackdown shows as they are having tribute shows dedicated to Eddie & his career. just from hearing all the comments & testimonies on the WWE website just makes feel like crying, & who knows, i might when i watch the tape.
i dunno why it would be such a big deal to me, but maybe it's because i was a fan of his. i have kinda followed him while he was with the WWE, & i've read & heard about all the things he had to overcome, such as alcoholism & drug abuse. he overcame all that & became the champ in the WWE. i'll never forget WrestleMania XX when i saw him in the ring with Chris Benoit. both in tears because they have finally reached the top of their careers by winning the championship belts on their respective brands (Smackdown for Guerrero & Raw for Benoit).
first & foremost, he was a family man, & he never selfish when it came to ppl's welfare. wrestlers who have given testmonials have said that he was always the guy in the locker room that would make you feel welcomed, & would try to help you become a better wrestler. i think that's awesome.
i really enjoyed his performances, whether he was a baby face (good guy) or a heel (bad guy). he would always make me laugh with his performance. VIVA LA RAZA!!! :D thanks for everything Eddie! i hope you enjoy your time up in Heaven with God. we're gonna miss ya!
so aside from all that, i was able to finish my SoE paper at 5am like i said. took a short nap between 12-1am too 'cuz i was just passing out from just writing. that power nap really helped.
Monday Randoms:
handed in my SoE paper 15min before the 4.30pm deadline at Renison College & then proceeded to the SLC 3rd floor to do some "hardcore" studying. it was a mistake to pick up a copy of the Imprint 'cuz i started to do the crossword. then when i couldn't figure anymore out, Eric did what he could. then i looked at it again to see if i could solve anymore with Eric's clues. haha..& then Annie, Elliot, Denise, & JT joined in on the crossword. haha i think we successfully solved the crossword. haha..what a waste of time really. :P
so yeah..i could only get through 1 chapter the whole time i was there, from 5pm-12.30am. ONE FRIGGIN chapter. so bad.
Today's (Tuesday) Randoms:
i explained what i did earlier. do you remember? it's been a long read so far, & i applaude you if you've made it this far. i'm sorry it's this long.
but yeah, i don't remember the last time i've done this much studying with so little downtime. i've always been pretty relaxed with my studying. but it's been a crazy week. sometimes i wish i could keep this up, but other times, i just wanna sit back & just do nothing! heck, right now it's 6.21am, & i'm still trying to finish this blog when i could simply just go to bed & finish it up another time, but then that would make this blog even longer.
tomorrow's (Wednesday) plans are for me to do my laundry, get my haircut for grad pictures next week, grocery shopping after badminton, & go see the Porn Nation event that's at the Humanities Theatre in Hagey Hall.
don't let the name "Porn Nation" mislead you. it's being brought to us by a Christian fellowship, Campus Crusades, to raise awarness with the porn problem we have in our society today. lectures, reactions, & comments should be interesting.
ok. i'm out yo. i promise next post will be a lot shorter than this one! :D

Life is a gift...Accept it.as i read on in the EP textbook, i found something about procrastination i thought was interesting:
Life is an adventure...Dare it.
Life is a mystery...Unfold it.
Life is a struggle...Face it.
Life is a puzzle...Solve it.
Life is an opportunity...Take it.
Life is a mission...Fulfill it.
Life is a goal...Achieve it.
~ Author Unknown
Procrastination. Students who postpone stdying for a test until the last minute can blame their failure on poor time management, thus deflecting attention away from the possibility that they are incompetent. A variation on this theme involves students who take on so many activities & responsibitlites that they have an excuse for not doing any one of them in a highly comepetent manner.haha so do we procrastination 'cuz we think we're incompetent? is procrastination a way to protect our self-esteem & avoid the real reason of failure? do we not study so we can blame it on the fact that we didn't study enough when we could have?
