F2005 Seekers - Finals Playoff: 2-1 OT W
the game was so hyped up 'cuz we were itching to play some real hockey. the C-Cups are generally known for their rough playing even though they're a bunch of girls with a male goalie. we haven't really played a hard game for 2 games straight 'cuz we played the Puck Bunnies (but no hard knock on them :)).
so anyway, the game got underway. i took the opening faceoff & right off the bat, their reputation withstood as i got elbowed in the head for puck possession. also right off the bat, i noticed as well as the rest of the team probably, that they're a noticeable different team. they were moving the puck better, & played the body a whole lot more. in the new NHL though, a lot of those plays they made would've been called for obstruction.
so yeah, in the first period, i don't think Elliot got a shot on net, so we were pretty good in keeping the puck in their zone. however, they got a really good goalie. he made a lot of saves & such. i swear, the C-Cups are really sketchy. it seems as if they got this goalie specifically for this game. the goalie is what kept them in the game, that's a fact.
but yeah, i think in the first period, Justin scored our first goal. i think it was a weird goal right off the faceoff. it took a weird bounce, up & over the goalie. but a goal is a goal. we needed it.
the 2nd period was nothing. just a bunch of shots on net on both sides, but no goals. both goalies were solid.
the intensity shot up in the third period as the C-Cups came out flying. they were all over our net & they finally scored early in the third period. didn't actually see the goal though. haha..i was too busy catching my breathe, or my vision was blocked. but aaaanyway, so yeah, after that, we were like..oh crap, we gotta change up some of the lines! i was originally centering Clara & Eric. but then, after that, i played with a bunch of ppl, Gabe, Adam, Justin, Joanna, Clara..it was just all over. we couldn't get anything done.
we had a couple powerplays tonight too, i think 3 to be exact. i didn't see their first penalty, out of my view on the bench again. the 2nd was a too many (wo)men on the ice call, & the last one, i drew a hooking call. we couldn't capitalize on any of our chances. but yeah, that just goes to show the style that they play.
a lot of us got knocked down, but no calls. we were kinda getting frustrated, but most of us shook it off. i got knocked down a lot, but only drew one penalty. but oh well.
i had a couple good chances too. 2 breakaways that i couldn't capitalize on. made the mistake of doing the same move twice, but i guess it's ok. the goalie wouldn't really expect the same move i guess. but if i had a third chance, i would've went left instead of right. my first breakway, i had the goalie totally beat, but i couldn't get the puck high enough on the backhand, & he got a piece of it, then it bounced up & off his back. Clara almost knocked in the loose puck. it was a really good chance. i thought she did put it in 'cuz i saw the mesh move. but nope! :( had another chance on a 2 on 1 break, & took a slap shot that wasn't really good. another chance when Mike dropped it back to me around the faceoff circle.
so yeah, we ended regulation time in a 1-1 deadlock. OVERTIME we went! wooo! very exciting! Adam centered Justin & i, while Brenda & Eric were were on the defence. so we quickly made way into their zone & had a couple shots on goal. Mike & Kevin replaced Brenda & Eric after the first whistle. then we had another rush. Mike pinched in to get a loose puck behind the net & fed it out in front to Justin, who one-timed it. GOAL!!!!! it was awesome! i just started screaming "YEAH YEAH YEAH!!!!!" went right through the goalie's 5-hole. & then we mugged each other right in front of the C-Cup bench (not purposely though, it just happened that way! haha).
so yeah, celebrated, & then shook hands with C-Cups, & then took a team picture. :D
so good!
i feel like i just wrote a sports column. but in the first person. haha..oh man, if this is how beginner level ends, intermediate is gonna be even harder!! :S it'll be a good challenge.
the rest of the day. woke up early to go to my Educational Psych tutorial for some stat questions she handed out last class. so yeah, i get there & the only person i see is the TA. how sad. i feel bad for the TA too 'cuz she's giving up her time to help students & no one shows. so, yeah, i just checked over my answers & left... :S i hope more ppl showed up after i did.
i wanted to get some work done today, but i just never got around to doing it. too my procrastination. i think it was the weather. haha..it was crap. raining & dark. i was discouraged. but meh, did my laundry. was running out of underwear! ;P HAHA..
dinner over Smallville. & then i got pretty tired. so i took an hour & a half nap. then just vegged until JT came to pick me up for the hockey game.
so after the game, came home, showered, ate some snacks, talked on MSN..haha..one friend wrote "butt eating helps.." when we were talking about warming up from the cold. hahahaha..so weird! using your butt to eat helps! haha..i thought it was funny, but it was actually a typo. but it's still funny.
anyway, the day was capped off nicely. :) now gotta get into the grind of studying for finals. :S starting..tomorrow. :P
