Let's Go To The Ex!

Friday was a pretty long day, starting at 6.30am when I wake up each weekday morning to travel to work. But Friday was the last day for a lot of people, and those lots of people were summer students or co-op students. A student finished her last day at the CT office on Friday and gave everyone a Turtles chocolate. I got three. HAHA..sweeet! :P And then there's the UW co-op spam email list which is now down to..just me. LOL. Oh well.

Anyway, I was able to get off work early on Friday. So I left and met up with Denise at Eaton Centre at around 3.30pm, shopped at HMV ('cuz any time I go to a mall, I have to stop off here) for a bit before we headed on our way to the CNE (aka The Ex). I've been to the Ex before, but nothing really sticks out from my past visits and this was Denise's first time to the Ex, so I hope she had fun. We met up with the rest of the group at the Food Building for dinner. By the end of the night, there were about over 10 of us. It was a fun night, mostly at the expense of Joe. The night just started off bad for him when he finally lost the "Guess My Age," and this is where the losing streak begins. Next was the Curious George water-squirting game, and the last game of the night for him was the "Whack-a-Mole" game.

All the entertainment came from the water game though, as he just kept on losing and losing. A few times he was so close to winning, but was just edged out by another person. On his 2nd game, he was winning but the person beside him just came back in the end to take it away. Aww..and on the last game of the night, the vendor actually gave him a free game 'cuz he felt sorry for him and then this little girl challenged. You can guess what happened. He lost. Everyone just cracks up like crazy, but the vendor was nice enough to give Joe a prize anyway. Haha..oh man, what bad luck. But at least Joe was a good sport about it all. Hahaha.

As for myself, I played a couple games, mostly the bottle-breaking game. In this game, you're given two balls, and you gotta break two beer bottles. If you miss the first one, the second ball is useless, unless you're able to break 2 with one ball. I wasted too much money here to win my prize. I was able to win a giant Crazy Frog, AKA The Annoying Thing plush doll (in pictures).

The other game I played was the "Guess Your Speed," which is a game where you guess how fast you can throw. I played that one twice. In the first game, I think I threw 67 and 68, guessing 69. The second game 70 and 67, guessing 69 again. Later on, I found out that I could've seen how fast I could throw for free inside the SportZone!

There inside the SportZone, I was able to see how fast I could throw again, posting speeds of 70-70-67. Not sure what unit of measure was being used though. I'm hoping it's miles per hour. LOL.. :P We also found some hockey games, like accuracy shooting and hardest shot. I was able to hit 2 targets in 6 or 7 shots, and my fastest shot was 66, again, don't know the unit of speed. I can throw faster than I shoot. Isn't that weird?

Friday was a day of meeting up and bumping into people of all sorts.

For lunch, I met up with Jon Cheung for lunch at McDonald's. We had a pretty good chat about our respective companies we work for, among other things such as fantasy pools, baseball, and softball. Later in the day, I met up with Anita to pass her the tickets to the Ex for some of the guys since I had them.

At the Ex, we bumped into so many people. First it was Iris as she was working one of the food booths in the food building. She gave some of the guys some free grub. Bumped into Keith's cousin, Sheldon at the "Guess your Speed" game. Bumped into my cousin Stephen and his family inside the SportZone at the golfing area. Bumped into Desmond just walking around, and also met up with Gary and some of the groups' McMaster friends. Also bumped into a childhood friend, Tyronne, from the South Millway days at the bottle-breaking game, and again at the GO station.

So, all in all, the Ex was pretty good. Hope to do it again next year, and maybe even go to Wonderland once. Haven't been there in ages, so I wouldn't mind going there.

Anyway, time for useless information! Today's useless information area is MY fantasy pools.

I hope that I'm able to keep my positions in my fantasy baseball pools..well 3 of the 4 anyway. In one of them I don't stand a chance to finish in the top 3 since I'm currently sitting 6th out of 8, 28.5 points behind. But the other three, 2 of them public leagues, 3rd and 1st, and the last one, I'm in 3rd.

In the public league where I'm 3rd, it's not secure, I've been fluctuating between 3rd and 4th since only 1.5 points separate us. No way I can catch up to 2nd since he's up by 6.5 points. So hopefully I can hold on to that position to win a trophy (not a real one though..booo).

Now, my other public league, I'm sitting in 1st, but it's not secure. It would've been secure if it was at mid-season since I was up by like almost 15 points maybe at most, but in the past few weeks I've been trading spots with 2nd place. Only 3 points separate us. I want another gold to go with my victories in 3 hockey pools and 1 basketball pools last year. :P

In another pool, private league, I'm sitting in 3rd, but pretty have that secured since 2nd place is 22.5 points ahead, and 4th is 9 points back. But who knows what could happen. My whole team could get injured in the last month of baseball. :S That wouldn't be cool.

So far, for the coming fall/winter seasons, I've joined 2 football and 1 hockey pool with probably a few more to come. So that's today's edition of useless information.
