My First Day

so i started today at Canadian Tire. up bright & early at 6.30am, leaving the house with my sister at 7.30am for the Kipling subway station.

didn't get to the Yonge/Bloor transfer until about 8.30am, & another 15mins to get up to Eglinton. being the idiot that i am, i started walking the wrong way again. instead of walking in the opposite direction on Yonge, i started walking up on Eglinton for some reason. then i realized..ok i don't recognize any of this. so i turned around. but luckily i had 15mins to spare, & found my way in no time.

got to the office early, & the first thing i had to do was check in at the reception & tell them that i'm here for the Welcome Session, which ran for 1.5hrs. the video they showed about the history of CT was pretty interesting, it actually made me smile. there were about 10 of us in that room, none of them were in my department though.

so after that, went back out to reception & had them contact my manager. i never knew what floor i would be working on, but i soon found out as she took me up to the 11th floor. met the rest of my team, although i don't remember most of their names, some of them are even hard to pronounce, but i think right now i'm like the only guy on that team. but i think there's another guy starting next week. :S i dunno!

my manager showed me around the floor, showed me where everything was, & then put me to work right away. a little later on, she took me down to Employees' Services to have my picture taken & get my security card. they spelt my name wrong the first time, but luckily i caught it before we left the department & had them correct it.

so back up to work. & work did i do. so much paperwork! i'm gonna get a nasty papercut one day. :S that won't be cool! i didn't even get to play on my computer. but then again, i don't have access to it yet anyway, nothing's set up on my computer yet. boo..but once i do..it's over. but no MSN. that's for sure, i have no time for MSN at work & i don't want to get in trouble. i won't know who's spying on me while i'm on the computer 'cuz my back faces the out. i have my own cubicle WITH a window! haha my friend there is jealous 'cuz he doesn't have a window.

anyway, i'm situated in the South building for now. i heard that we're gonna be moving to the North building sometime next month & i heard that the cubicles are a lot nicer there. i might lose my window seat though. boo that would suck, but oh well, that's ok.

so yeah, it was a pretty busy day at work today, despite it being the first day. i thought it'd be a little less work, but i got a lot of work to do this week, but that's ok. i rather be doing something than not doing anything.

ok i'm tired of thinking of what i did at work today. so that'll be all!
