Freak Accident
so, i heard from Jeff W that some freak accident happened back home in Mississauga. it's kinda scary, yet very deeply sad.
i read about it in the Toronto Star as soon as he mentioned it, & wow. it was really close to home. here's the excerpt from thestar.com:
honestly, i don't know. probably my life will flash before my eyes, screaming at the top of my lungs, just waiting for death to come, it's inevitable.
knowing me, because sometimes i can be such a jerk, i kinda wanted to look at the question in a different way. i was thinking, break out the cellphone & call home for a last goodbye. although, that probably wouldn't have happened. no time. you're falling 9.8 metres per second squared (if i remember my physics correctly) for 28 metres. it's just kinda impossible.
in any case, that's just a sad story. sometimes i really need to change the way i think. i really wish it would be easy. but i know the line between joking & not joking, but i always like to think of situation in a brighter light. a positive note. it was a beautiful day to go out for a bike ride, but it was so very unfortunate that this accident happened. just can't believe that it actually happened! y'know what i mean? like we've drove across this bridge countless times & never have i heard of anyone falling over the barrier to their death until today.
anyway, played badminton tonight at UW Badminton Club for the last time. it was fun, but i played like crap. stuck around longer than usual too 'cuz ppl got me to play with them. then i had an unusual conversation with a friend on the way home, dealing with her relationship. i don't understand that relationship, & won't get into any details here 'cuz it's not my job to disclose it.
i dunno if playing like crap is attributed to the fact that i'm still pretty sore from going to play CFC ball hockey Monday night. it involved a lot of running around in a gym. something i'm not that used to, so my body isn't responding to that kinda physical activity. :P so my lower back is sore, my legs are sore, my butt is sore, & my rib area is kinda sore as well. don't think badminton helped any of that.
next up is a softball game. nothing formal, just pick up softball here in Waterloo. i sent out an email, & then i got an email back with an idea of setting up a friendly game between Laurier CCF against UW CCF. so the game is on..pending on the weather. if there's thunderstorms, the game's off, but if there's rain, game's still on. so if you're a UWCCFer, come out & play for our team! show Laurier what we're made of! :P
later in the evening, i found out that CCF still has ice time, so we have the ice booked Saturday morning from 9-10am i believe. gonna scrimmage. so that should be fun! :D
but with the fun, i must study as well. it's finals mode time.

Peel police have identified the 46-year-old Mississauga cyclist who fell over a Credit River bridge in a bizarre fatal accident.
Andrzej Sacawa was riding on the sidewalk of Burnhamthorpe Rd. W., about a kilometre west of Creditview Rd., in Mississauga when he lost control.
"The handlebars of the bicycle hit an aluminum guard rail and caused the front wheel to strike the railing," said Const. Les Dannell of the Peel Region major collision bureau.
The sudden stop caused Sacawa to launch over his handlebars. He tumbled over the barrier and fell approximately 28 metres to his death.
The river is only about a metre deep at the point where the cyclist fell.
