Bang! Bang!

let's start off with Thursday night. went to Relationship Cell and the topic this week was communication. haha, funny how we talked more about courtship tho, but anyway, yeah i felt that even tho the topic was on communication, i didn't communicate enough. maybe that's just me. i don't know. anyway, it was an interesting discussion anyway.

after that, i had about 20mins to chill before i spent 4hrs in the Campus Cove (campus arcade for ppl who are unfamiliar). it was Cove Night for the UWBadminton Club, so it was free for members from 9pm-1am. played all sorts of games like Time Crisis 3, bowling, tennis, bball, jitz, pool, racing games. i wish they still have Daytona USA there. that game i played a lot..it was my favourite game there! oh well, it was good chill time i guess, not that my week was stressful anyway.

so Friday night, went to CCF and did a bible study on James 1:19-27, Listening and Doing.

"My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, for man's anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires. Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you.

Do not merely listen to the word and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it - he will be blessed in what he does.

If anyone considers himself religious and yet does not keep a tight rein on his tongue, he deceives himself and his religion is worthless. Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world." James 1:19-27

Steve lead our group of 5. the hottest topic was probably the mirror as there were a lot of different connotations attached to it.

"Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like." James 1:23-24

to me, this passage says "don't be a hypocrite" as in, if you follow the Bible, God, or Jesus, you read his word and you do something against it, and later you know what you have done was wrong, you try to forget about it or try to erase it. it's like you do something, and it's wrong, you want to erase it. that's how i looked at it. there was another example brought up, but i can't remember it. :S

another passage we took a while on was the one on listening.

"My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, for man's anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires." James 1:19-20

with this, it was related back to discussions from Relationship Cell about communication. there was a chapter we read in "Boy Meets Girl" that talks about having 2 ears and 1 mouth because you should listen more than you speak. furthermore, we discussed the difference between frustration and anger. i think we concluded that frustration happens when you want to give up, and anger is when you're flat out pissed off. the passage says that "man's anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires." so does this mean that man can't have righteous anger? Jon, who was in our group, brought up that righteous anger could be that you could observe someone who is Christian doing something that isn't right and you get angry about it. so is that type of anger ok?

my thoughts on this passage was pretty straight forward. be a good listener, think before you speak, and control your temper because getting angry might not be worth it. you may have interpreted it wrong in the first place. if you're gonna get angry, make sure you know all the facts first.

i think that's what i got the most out of the Bible study this week.

after CCF, a bunch of us went to BubbleTease for some..bubble tea..duh!..and we played a new card game called Bang! it was funny, Jeff was explaining the game but i kept on laughing whenever he said he "banged!" someone. hahaha..i dunno, i couldn't stop laughing. haha..AAAAAANYWAY..so yeah we played, and i think i asked the most questions. i had an excuse man, he was sitting on my left side so i couldn't hear everything, and plus the place is loud and noisy. so the basis of the game is that there are 3 Outlaws who are trying to kill the Sheriff, there's 2 Deputy Sheriffs whose job is to protect the Sheriff, and then there's a Renegade who tries to be the last person in play. at the beginning of the game, the Sheriff has to be shown and that person gets to go first. to end the game, the Sheriff needs to be killed or all the Outlaws and Renegades have to be killed. so on to the game playing...

the first game was funny 'cuz Jeff got killed off rather quickly. he didn't even really get to play 'cuz i put him in jail and then ppl just started to kill him. it was funny 'cuz it was Jeff's game, and we're killing him. Andre, who came up again this weekend, was the Sheriff in town. attacked Jeff and gave him the most damage, and then i was after Andre, and i finished him off 'cuz i knew he had no more of the required cards to defend against me. too bad he died in jail! he didn't even get a turn! hahaha..what the funny thing was that Andre was the Sheriff, and he attacked Jeff, who after he was killed, was revealed as the Deputy Sheriff. hahaha..it was funny. the game ended when Andre got killed.

the next game Jeff and i played together and we were the Deputy. as the game progressed, we were able to distinguish who the Renegade and Outlaws were and we and Joyce (the other Deputy) were able to protect Sheriff Sarah.

after that game, the Deputies and Sheriff always won. although, Jeff still didn't last very long in the games. haha..too funny. Jeff was always the first one to die.

by the time we finished, it was almost 3am, i think we (Sarah, Andre, Jeff, and i) headed back to our (Jeff and i) place. we were gonna play more, but we were too tired and hungry, so we made some food and watched one of my home videos i was able to dig up. last night's feature was my dad's birthday tape the kids made for him 3yrs ago. it was funny. i've forgotten about most of the content on the tape, but i was rather fun to watch.

finally crashed at 6am and woke up at 1.30pm

now here i am. after this, gonna finally get down to some reading i need to do for my Holocaust & Film paper.

which is now.

bye! have a good weekend y'all!
