The Curse of the Great Bambino...

...is over!

the Boston Red Sox have finally broken that 86yr curse! ever since Babe Ruth was sold to the New York Yankees, the Red Sox never saw another World Series. but tonight, they defied the odds, and blew away the Yanks 10-3. Johnny Damon was the hero with 2 homeruns, one which was a grand slam and the other a 2-run homer. i didn't watch much of the game, but wow! GO BOSTON! maybe i can write about this for the article? hmmm.......

*edit 1.50am* i have been informed that the Boston Red Sox have indeed made it to the World Series before, in 1986, where they lost to the New York Mets. thus, the Curse of the Great Bambino is still on. i always thought the curse was about making it TO the World Series, but in fact, the curse is WINNING the World Series. best of luck to the BoSox!

now the NLCS, i think i'm going for the Houston Astros. i have no particular reason tho. i think it would be a good series. but yeah, they're in game 7 too! how exciting! i kinda wished the Chicago Cubs would go to the World Series against the BoSox tho..that would've been fun to watch.

Hulk's Beginnings

before detonating an experimental bomb, Dr. Robert Bruce Banner rushed to the rescue of a teenager who had wandered onto the testing field. after shoving the teen to safety, Banner was struck full force by the bomb blast and was irradiated by its deadly gamma energy. his subsequent changes into the childlike green Hulk then came to be triggered by the release of adrenaline when he was intensely excited. the green Hulk possesses little of Banner's memory and intelligence and is easily enraged - making him a menace to society.

Hulk's History

for a short time, Banner successfully treated his condition with radiation and was able to maintain enough of his own personality to control himself when in Hulk form. subsequently, he helped found the Avengers and even received a presidential pardon. ultimately, however, the Hulk reverted into a brutish menace. when "Doc" Samson captured the Hulk and successfully separated Banner from his alter ego, the Hulk became an even greater danger than ever before.

in a futile attempt to rein in the Hulk, Banner agreed to merge with the monster. the stress of the reintegration, however, fractured Banner's subconscious, creating the street-smart gray Hulk. then, through hypnosis, "Doc" Samson created the intelligent "Professor" Hulk. due to the deteriorating effects of the ALS and the chaos ravaging him, Banner cut a deal with the three Hulk personalities - essentially to time-share their existence, in return for providing him with release from his disease.

Hulk's Mortal Enemies

thought the Hulk and the original Defenders defeated him, the techno-menace Yandroth used his sorcery to levy a deathbed curse upon their heads - forever binding them to come together in times of crisis.

Hulk's Loyal Alliances

though never a team player, the Hulk joined forces with Dr. Strange and Namor to defeat Yandroth and his ultimate computer, the Omegatron. thereafter, this loose-knit band of Defenders would unite periodically to oppose threats to humanity.
