S2006 H2O: Game 4: 18-6 W/Game 5: 19-11 W
So we've played 5 games so far this season in the Chinese Christian Softball Association (CCSA), and H2O is 4-1 including this doubleheader weekend games. Our next game is on July 15 @ 2pm @ Wigmore Park. Come out and support us! :)
Anyways, I got help from Vince and Joel in putting this recap together. Might be a little biased on our parts! :P haha..
Also, for the doubleheader, we had the full team for the first time this season.
Game 4: Anointed (6) @ H2O (18)
Anointed was a team that had a pretty alright age range. I'd say from the 20-30s. So no one really over 35 on the team, I suppose. They were a pretty good team and gave us the best challenge so far this season. The game against Spirit was just brutal.
Anointed got off to a pretty quick start in the first inning, scoring half their runs there, but after that inning, our team buckled down and played some pretty good defence. Anointed ended up flying out a lot to mostly left and center fields. The infield had minimal work, but if they did, it was mostly the right side where the girls were. Rebecca made some pretty nice plays at 2nd, including fielding a hard grounder backhanded and throwing the runner out at first.
Offensively, we were pretty potent. We had many extra base hits as our hits were placed very well, coupled with the fact that some of their fielders were inconsistent. Most of our hits went to left field as they weren't really covering the line very tight. The outfield grass was pretty hard as well, so the ball bounced high, and was able to roll quite a bit.
As for offensive highlights, there were 3 homeruns hit, one by Gary (3-run shot I believe), one by me (also a 3-run shot), and another one, but we have forgotten who hit it, it may have been Desmond. Rebecca also had a solid line drive hit that dropped in between the rover and outfielders in left-center.
Game 5: H2O (19) @ Archangels 2 (11)
So game two was against a much younger team than the first team. Probably at around our age. I think the team was full of fobs though. LOL.. :P
We were the away team, so I was able to get our team off to a quick start by belting a homerun that shouldn't have been a homerun. Joel calls it a 4-base error 'cuz it was a fly ball to left field, and the fielder just missed the ball and as a result, I was able to run it out. I also hit a 3-run jack later in the game. :D
So there were a couple good plays in this game defensively, as well as some pretty bad plays. Haha.. I made a lot of errors at short. I'm gonna get fired, but anyway, as for nice plays. I think the girls outshined the guys defensively in this game. They didn't make any errors. Kary and Denise both had nice catches as rovers. Both made running catches, and Denise's catch robbed Joel 'cuz he was going for the ball as well.
As for screw ups, there were many fumbles in the infield, and off-throws by us. But luckily our offense was able to keep those mistakes out of reach. There were two plays that we can recall, one in left field, it was hit between Joe and Phil. Phil was running in and called for it, so Joe somehow managed to get behind him to back up the catch, but Phil overran the ball and the ball nailed Joe in the leg. It was kinda funny, but fortunately, no one was hurt. The second play involved myself at short, and there was a sky-high pop up behind 2nd base. I called for it, but the wind was taking it left, and I misjudged it. Luckily, Joe was there and made the catch as we almost collided. :S
There were some offensive highlights. Odie was able to hit a RBI-triple. This game we were hitting smart again, placing most balls and picking the left field line again. However, some, of not most, of our hits were lucky 'cuz the outfield wasn't generally strong. They were inconsistent in making catches, but their infield was generally strong.
Joel would also mention that he "can't hit for crap". his words, literally. :P

I'm not complaining at all. But I thought you weren't going to do these types of posts anymore?
hey bens, sounds like these games really fun!
Guess what! I hit a homerun on Saturday! Not a crappy-get-to-home-based-on-errors kinda hit, but a real over-the-head-of-the-center-fielder BAM! Maybe he was standing too close and underestimated the power of my scream hee hee :)
how come i don't recall hitting a line drive??? lol or throwing anyone out at first!
i threw a lot over odie's head!
