I Just Can't Win!

Last week, I was sick. I didn't go to work for one day.

This week was better. I went to work yesterday (Monday) for the full day. Today (Tuesday), I went to work for one hour.

Why one hour, B? I'll tell you why, but first let's list all the things I've had to endure and some of which I continue to endure during my time of prolonged illness shall we?

• sore throat that turns into minor Strep Throat
• headaches
• minor fever
• dry cough
• runny and plugged nose
• bleeding nose

And here's the new kicker - pink eye.

Today I woke up with freaking pink eye. I was skeptical at first when I woke up with an unusual amount of eye crust which was kind of making my eye lids stick together a little. I thought nothing of it, although my eye was feeling a little irritable.

I go into work and my co-worker says, "Good morning! How are you feeling today?"

I tell her the truth, "I feel worse than yesterday. I had coughing fits every 30 seconds this morning."

She says, "Oh, you should've stayed home today. You're still sick! Your left eye kinda looks swollen too."

"It is? I guess I should get that checked out huh?" And she agreed. I had suspicions this morning that I may have it, but I guess this was the nail in the coffin.

As I was making my way to the kitchen to get a cup of water so I could take my antibiotics for my throat, I bump into my manager who asks me the same question as my co-worker. She goes on to tell me. "I don't care who your boss is, but if you're sick, you shouldn't be here until you're healthy again."

Luckily, my supervisor was also very understanding and sympathetic. I asked to go home early so I can get my eye checked out by my doctor. I was able to get many tasks done this morning before I left though, so I feel a little accomplished for the day. My supervisor also told me to let her know if I'll be going to work tomorrow via email or something. So that gave me a little more peace of mind.

So, because I am still sick (even my doctor is wondering why I haven't fought this off yet), and I have the additional pink eye, I won't be going to work tomorrow. Again.

I'm taking antibiotics for my throat (three times a day), cough syrup for my cough (two or three times a day), Advil for the pain (if any, three times a day), and now I have eye drops (four times a day).

Wow.

When will this end?
