Rebirth
i guess i felt that i needed to stop writing in that one, and start up a new one here at blogspot. a fresh new start, with a small recap of the summer. furthermore, i hope with this blog that i'll be able to be more open with whatever it is in my mind. i know that in my old one, i kept certain thoughts out. it's hard to put out thoughts because you don't know who reads and sometimes those thoughts may offend your friends.
anyway, the summer is coming to a close. most froshies are already back in school for this week's frosh week festivities. i hope all the froshies are out there having fun and being involved, unlike me. i remember my frosh week, i only went to pick up my faculty frosh week kit, my rez frosh week kit. after that, i think i did the first day frosh week stuff with my rez, and the free concert. that's all. all i really remember was chilling with lawrence and jeff in lawrence's room playing Worms 2. so yeah, that was pretty much frosh week for me. i also remember getting really sick. so sick that i was bleeding from my nose from coughing so hard. i felt like i was having a seizure. i honestly think it's an annual thing 'cuz it's happened the last couple years too. i guess i'm allergic to the start of the school term. :P BUT ANYWAY, kiddies have fun! that's where you meet your new friends! ;P
so what did i do all summer long? honestly i didn't think i did too much. i think it was mainly working and softball.
Work
Boca Rattan Inc. that is where i worked. it's my dad's company. i started to work there in the last week of April, so...if i remember correctly that was April 26th. and my last day was August 27th. so i've had about a week off so far from work. and it's been quite a busy one. that i'll talk about later. so work, work was work. what else can you expect from it? it's predictable and boring. did the same routine for 4 months with a few side projects. although it was boring, it was a job and i was good at it. i think i really helped my dad's company, with created excel forms and dealing with their A/R stuff. took a huge load off one of the girls in the office. i worked alone, outside of the office near the front door. so i served as an A/R guy and a receptionist (minus taking phone calls, 'cuz y'all know how much i don't like the phone).
i was able to help them sort out their Canadian Dollars/American Dollars mess they had in their system. so that required me to go into their database and change the price of EVERY SINGLE item and package that they had. so that was really tedious, but it was done. after that i had to check out and fix most of the American customer invoices that were in Canadian Dollars. holy crap! that took me almost 2 months to clean up. so yeah that was one project i had to do. it wasn't fun, but it gave me something to do when i was finished with the routine stuff.
anyway, i think that's enough about work stuff. bleh..i'm glad i'm not working anymore. i feel more..free.
Softball
Team Stumped! what can i say? it was a frustrating season for me, but it was capped off with two very good last days of the season, tournament and banquet. for me, i was really glad it ended that way, i didn't want to leave thet season on a sour note.
anyway, there were a couple things that frustrated me with this season. for one, it was the lack of team commitment. there was a player that only showed up for opening ceremonies, one game, and for the food at banquet. that's it. what is that? i think everyone on my team knows who i'm talking about. what nerves man.
moving on, this is bad to say, but i wasn't used to having a losing record after the regular season. we finished 4-5 and placed 7th out of 10 in the season. the last two season my team finished 1st after the regular season, so i was used to winning. i think i should have a better attitude when it comes to playing in MCBCSL seeing that it IS suppose to be a FUN league and NOT a competitive one. so yeah..shame on me.
but come tournament day. i set a goal for myself for the team. make it into the playoffs. yes, i'm sorry to say but i wasn't overly confident at first with our team since we were playing Graf, Bleeders, and Butterfly. Graf annihlated us in the regular season, and Butterfly beat us by 3. we beat Bleeders by only one run as well. So yeah, it wasn't looking good from a regular season standpoint. but to my surprise, we were VERY solid during the round robin, and finished it with a 2-0-1 record! that was good enough to place us 3rd after the round robin! YAY STUMPED!
haha during tournie we also came up with a new cheer, actually it was all Kevin's idea and he brought it in from the Argos of the CFL. haha we'd cheer Stumped! after 3 and throw a ball up in the air and used it as a grenade. so when it hit the ground, the whole team would fall over like it exploded! haha..it was funny..but dirty. hahaa :P i guess it was symbolic 'cuz when we started doing that our play was really good during the game.
so on to the quarterfinals we go. we faced Graf once again. one of their players told me that throughout their day, their defence got much better, so that kinda worried me, but then he said that their offence started to lack! so i was like..well GOOD haha :P we were able to beat them but barely. it was a good game i suppose, but it was too close for comfort. i was fortunate enough to hit the game-winning homerun in the bottom of the 5th inning (out of 6 innings). i think the score was 11-10. so we moved to the semifinals and faced the winner between Treasure Hunters and Bleeders. so naturally, our team was cheering for Bleeders because Hunters finished 2nd in the regular season. but Bleeders lost, and so we had to prepare for Hunters. while we were having our little small short team meeting, some members of Bleeders came over to us and started to give us some scouting reports on Hunters. they said to put whoever normally plays shortstop on 3rd base, and put a relatively ok fielder at shortstop instead because they hit it down 3rd a lot. they also said to have a good rover, and not to play the outfield too deep 'cuz they don't hit that far. so we took the advice and used it in the game. turns out it was true and we were able to beat them as well! it was a good game! don't know what the score was, but ppl say that we demolished them.
so on to the FINALS we go! as expected we played the top team in the league this year. Fuel. they were unbeaten in the regular season with a record of 7-0-2. this was a good game. we came out strong in the beginning getting off to an early lead. our defense was playing really well and our offence wasn't doing too badly either. it was pretty even throughout the game, we kept on exchanging leads until late in the game. Fuel ended up winning 15-11 i believe. it was a good game i thought. we put out a good effort, i was pleased by it. we gave them a run for the championship, just the way it should be. i was glad it wasn't a blow out. on a side note. haha benson highlights include a homerun and a double play! :P hehehehee.. ;P
so yeah, that was tournament day. afterwards, the team went out to grab a bite at Boston Pizza where we had a pretty good time. we were able to reflect as a team, on the season and on the day. it was a good laugh, a good time. we were also able to give out captains some gifts we got them. a bonzai tree for one and a first aid kit to the other.
the following day was banquet. not much to be said about banquet. it was a good time as well. ray on my team is one of the funniest guys i've ever met. he's one of the few ppl that can make me laugh really hard. so hard that i actually tear up and hurt in the stomache. it's all Family Guy! yeah, for our team Sam took home Most Improved Player award and Mindy took home Most Appreciated Player. For the league, i was able to take home the Golden Glove award for best defensive player. WOOOT! after the program and everything ended, it was basically mingle time. most of that mingle time was to take pictures with anyone and everyone you can! by the end of that night, i was all smiled out man. my face was actually hurting from smiling so much. taking so many pictures. you can see pictures at my picture site here. after banquet a few of us went to Demetre's for some dessert and a last team get together. that was also fun. ray again cracked me up with lines like "oh i gotta go drain the vein." haha..and Gen and Sam couldn't stop laughing at something so stupid!! :P the joke was so over, but we were able to creatively drag it on. like when Kevin was getting scolded for something, he was able to get out of it by reminding them of the old joke. hahaha "laugh, just laugh." hahhaa..it's a you-had-to-be-there joke.
so yeah, the rounded out the softball season for me. to honestly say, if it weren't for the last two days, tournie and banquet, i think my decision to play next year in MCBCSL would've been a definate no. but now, i might consider coming back to play another year. but that can all change in a year as well.
so, what else have i been up to? hmmm...
- Aug 27 - went to a Jays game, the faced the Yankees. after the game we went to Hooters. I swear, that place has nothing but ugly girls with big breasts working there. that's all that's required!
- Aug 31 - played some vball
- Sept 3 - went to a bbq and played ice hockey for the first time
i haven't done much it seems. most of it was spent relaxing for the most part.
the summer was also a summer of goodbyes it seems. i said it SEEMS..not a lot of ppl left, but i guess ppl that are such great friends.
- sylvia - she's gone to UBC for med school! i'm so proud of her! she's gonna be my doctor one day! ;P RIGHT? :P hehehe..i miss you dearly! i'm glad that we're still able to talk even tho there's a 3hr time difference! i must try to visit you sometime while you're in Vancouver!
- mindy - finished with Waterloo, and onto better things at Dentistry school at Toronto. i'm gonna miss seeing you in the 'loo! who's gonna cook me those wonderful meals, and making sure that i eat my veggies? who am i gonna go skating with? you will be missed!

anyway, i think this is long enough. i should head off to sleep now since i have to wake up for church in about 4.5hrs. damn! and then i gotta pack up for both my cruise (Sept 6-11), and my move to the loo' (Sept 12). so i probably won't be back for about a week or more.
until then everyone. take care!
